City of McGehee Police Department To Protect and Serve The McGehee Police Department has 14 sworn officers, 9 jailers, 2 administrative personnel, and K-9 "Hoot."

The police department offers a wide range of services including Patrol, K-9, School Resource Officers, Narcotics Investigations, Special Response Team (SRT), Criminal Investigations, Jail Operations, and the Desha County 911 Call Center. In addition to traditional police services, the police department very proudly partners with several community centers and schools such as the Boy's and Girl's Cl

ub of McGehee, local churches, the local food pantry and several other local charities to provide mentorship programs, food drives, drug free programs, school safety initiatives, the Shop with a Cop program, as well as many other services. The police is very honored to serve the fine citizens of the City of McGehee, and all those that visit or pass through on a daily basis.

A big thank you to the McGehee Safe Prom Committee for hosting Safe Prom on Saturday, April 18th following the McGehee High School Prom. We truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of such a great event focused on student safety.

Special thanks for allowing Sergeant Darius Barnes and Corporal Dallas Barnes to set up an interactive area where students could experience the effects of alcohol intoxication using “drunk goggles” and participate in the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST), specifically the “Walk and Turn” test.

We really enjoyed connecting with our high school students while helping them understand why driving after drinking alcohol is unsafe. Events like this make a difference—thank you for your commitment to keeping our students safe!

We would also like to add a BIG thank you to the McGehee Police Foundation for purchasing these goggles for the Police Department, we will be utilizing the goggles in future events as well.
