Today, the City of McFarland joins communities across the nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown by first responders, service members, and ordinary citizens who stepped forward in a time of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, the survivors, and all those whose service and sacrifice continued long after that day.
September 11 remains a powerful reminder of the strength, compassion, and unity that can bring a nation together in its darkest moments.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

🍇🏃‍♂️ The McFarland Grape Festival 5K Fun Run is almost here!

Check out this year’s custom Grape Festival shirt and finisher medal. Every registered participant will receive both a shirt and a medal!

Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Blanco Park. Registration is still open for just $30.
Register now through Active.com or visit McFarlandCity.org.

Same-day registration will also be available from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM at Blanco Park. Bib and shirt pickup will take place during that time, so please arrive early.
Race begins at 8:00 AM.

After the 5K, stick around for the McFarland Grape Festival from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM for a full day of vendors, activities, entertainment, and community fun.

📢 Labor Day Office Closure

The City of McFarland Office will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.
City offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 8:00 AM.

Public safety and emergency response services, including the McFarland Police Department, will remain available during the closure. For emergencies, please call 911.

For urgent water service issues during the closure, please call 661-792-3058.

Join Bloom Body Pilates for two beginner-friendly classes at Blanco Park.

👥 Limited to 15 participants per class

Registration is FREE through the Bloom Body Pilates website.

Please arrive 10–15 minutes early and bring your own Pilates mat. No mats or equipment will be provided by the City. Participants are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable workout attire.

Spots are limited, so register early! For more information, contact the City of McFarland or Bloom Body Pilates.

At the most recent City Council meeting, participants in the City of McFarland’s Emerging Leaders Program had the opportunity to present a recap of their internship experience, sharing what they learned, the projects they worked on, and how their time with the City helped them grow both personally and professionally.

This year’s collegiate interns represented CSU Bakersfield, UC Merced, UCLA, and UC Davis and gained hands-on experience across several City departments, including Public Works, Finance, Community Development, and Administration.

Throughout the program, students were introduced to the day-to-day operations of local government and had the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects. Their experience included exposure to areas such as project management, permitting and development processes, website and digital services, finance and administrative operations, records retention, clerical functions, and other responsibilities that support City services.

The Emerging Leaders Program gives students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom in a professional setting while gaining a deeper understanding of public service and the many career paths available within local government.

Their presentations to the City Council also gave each participant an opportunity to reflect on their experience, highlight the work they completed, and share the knowledge and skills they will carry with them moving forward.

The City of McFarland is proud to invest in programs that help prepare the next generation of professionals and public servants while providing students with meaningful experience serving their community.
We thank each of our Emerging Leaders for their hard work, professionalism, and contributions to the City of McFarland, and we wish them continued success in their academic and professional journeys!
