We are thrilled to share the overwhelming success of today’s bag making event with St. Gregory of Nazianzus !

As a part of this year’s Advent Project for the parish, we created over a dozen hand-made bags from donated tee shirts. Each bag was filled with a creative/heartfelt card from an ECF student or family in the parish, and a number of bags were also filled with handmade blankets!

This event was such a joy due to the strong passion for service prevalent amongst parishioners. As we continue our advent collaboration, we are super stoked to see what is to come!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be collaborating with St. Gregory’s Byzantine Catholic Church for the 2024 St. Gregory’s Advent Project! From November 10 through December 22, we welcome the parish family to donate items centered around alleviating ailments the homeless will be enduring in the winter months. All requested items are indicated on the flier, and will be accepted in a donation bin outside the Mother of God chapel.

Additionally, ECF students will be crafting personable t-shirt bags for homeless folks on November 24, following liturgy. These bags are always warmly received, and we cannot wait to see what the kids are able to generate through the project!

More medical kits!!! This time, over 3 dozen thanks to .odk !

These medical kits have been greatly appreciated by our friends outside in the South Side of Pittsburgh, and we are very fortunate to have such a great poll of selfless individuals to contribute to make the kits. Members had a great time crafting them, and many opted to keep some to distribute themselves! Great job, .odk 👍

Last week, we had the tremendous opportunity to collaborate with for the SECOND year in a row!

A number of general members came prepared to make handmade blankets for our guests outside. These blankets are continuing to find grateful recipients, and they mean so much to be coming from such service-oriented individuals. Each event with is a blast, and we cannot be more grateful for your contribution to our mission!!!

.msf came up BIG this week to prepare dozens of medical kits for our guests outside. Our ambassadors did an incredible job facilitating this event all on their own, and the outcome is proof.

The xylazine epidemic has had tragic effects on many of our friends stuck outside, leaving severe wounds that, if left untreated, can lead to serious infection. The generally unsanitary conditions our friends are stuck living in leave them no way of managing any wounds that may pose this threat, let alone wounds caused by substance abuse. These medical kits are specifically crafted to enable recipients to care for any wounds they may arise and maintain a cleaner living space in the changing seasons.

The majority of the Doctors Without Borders chapter at Duquesne consists of individuals preparing to work in healthcare. It means so much to have such service-oriented people join our mission. Thanks so much .msf !👍🙏

We’d like to extend a massive thank-you to ! The girls showed up and made no-sew blankets for our friends outside, in preparation for the coming months. We’re so thankful for their contribution and we know recipients of the blankets will be even more so!

It’s important to stay cognizant not only of the troubles our friends face in the moment, but also of what they have to prepare for. The weather in Pittsburgh varies significantly in each season, and we know that these blankets will be put to use soon enough. 11 blankets were distributed in the South Side of Pittsburgh immediately after this event👍

For the second year in a row, the Duquesne ACHA D3 Men’s Ice Hockey team came up big to kick off our first event of the year!

Some of the team met to assemble more medical kits this morning, assembling over 40 bags that will be distributed in the South Side and on the North Shore over the next month. Key components of these bags are the body wipes to be used in place of showers, tissues to promote cleanliness, and antibiotic ointment to heal the ailments of those fighting infection exacerbated by the brutal heat from the summer.

A great event with a great group of guys!

For the third year in a row, our service event with was a huge success!

The brothers of DSP always come ready to work and have been essential to pursuing our mission since we began projects at Duquesne. They teamed up to make over a dozen no-sew blankets and donated lots of clothes. We’re so grateful for their contributions and always have an awesome time🙏👍

Over 20 more medical kits made and donated today, this time from the nursing students of Duquesne! 🏥🩺

So far, recipients have been loving the kits and had particularly good things to say about the Mylar outdoor blankets provided in the bags. It’s groups like this that allow us to continue to carry out our mission, and we are forever grateful!!!

Another service event in the books, thanks to and !!!

This time, members packed personalized medical kits for our guests outdoors. This time of year is especially rough for those that cannot hold housing, and dry skin from the elements often leads to cracking and infection- potentially life-threatening if unmanaged.

Each kit contains antibacterial cream, moisturizer, alcohol pads, chapstick, cough drops, bandages of multiple sizes,hand sanitizer, and a mask.⚕️🚑

Additionally, kits were packed into larger bags, which contain non-medical pertinent items. These include hand warmers, Mylar blankets, garbage bags, wool socks, and heart-felt cards from everyone that helped make this event a success !

Inventory day!

Some behind-the-scenes action from Nick and Chris Kiss and their friend Stacey DeBasi at the HSH storage. They took inventory and organized donations to be used for the planned service events over the next several months. This contribution is equal in significance to the help we receive from ambassadors and essential to our continuing our mission. We are so grateful for the help, thank you!❤️
