Today, members of the Malta-McConnelsville Fire Department gathered in formation for our annual Memorial Day march to honor the firefighters who came before us and the sacrifices they made for our community.

Their dedication, courage, and service will never be forgotten. We are proud to carry on the tradition and values they helped build.

As you spend time with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember and honor those who gave everything in service to our country and communities.

And after the amount of rain we’ve had the last couple days, we’re thankful the march route didn’t require boats and life vests instead of dress blues.

Yesterday, members completed annual hose testing on Ladder 15.
With the large amount of hose carried on the truck and the complexity of the ladder turntable this is no small task and takes a true team effort to get the job done. It may not be the most enjoyable job, but annual hose testing is essential to ensure our equipment is ready when needed.

Yesterday, two firefighters from the Adamsville Volunteer Fire Department were hospitalized while responding to a structure fire.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with both firefighters, their families, and the entire department as they recover from this incident. We also thank the community for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Incidents like this are a reminder of the risks firefighters face every time the tones drop and they answer the call to serve others.

From all of us at the Malta McConnelsville Fire Department, we are wishing both firefighters a full and speedy recovery.

Last Wednesday we made the most of the good weather.

Members of the Malta McConnelsville Fire Department spent time putting our extrication equipment to work, demonstrating the Jaws of Life on a vehicle. It was a great opportunity for hands on training, sharpening our skills, and making sure we’re ready when seconds count.
