Flood Warning issued August 20 at 10:23PM EDT until August 21 at 7:00AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Central Morgan County in southeastern Ohio...
* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of the Muskingum River at and near
McConnelsville continues.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1022 PM EDT, The automated gauge at McConnelsville on the
Muskingum River was at 8 feet and falling. The forecast calls for
the river to fall below 6 feet by daybreak Friday. Due to the
recent dam replacement, the official flood stage is no longer
representative of known impacts. Flooding of areas away from the
gauge can be expected at lower stages. At a stage of 7.5 feet,
sections of Route 669 above Malta, Cottonwood Drive just below
McConnelsville, and other roads along the river flood. In
addition, low-lying areas adjacent to the river, including
recreational boat ramps, also experience flooding.
- Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
McConnelsville, Malta, Stockport and Eagleport.

INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
