On July 19th, 2021, PFC. Brandon McBride of the Bogalusa Police Department responded to a call in which a vehicle had been driven into the Bogalusa Creek. Upon the arrival of police and the fire department, a female was on top of the vehicle screaming for help. Without regard for their own safety, Pfc. McBride, along with fire fighters Dustin Stringer and Taylor Williams, entered the water, swam to the vehicle and rescued the driver.

At the Bogalusa City Council meeting on September 21st, Pfc. McBride, along with Firefighters Stringer and Williams, were presented a life saving award by Mayor Wendy O'Quin-Perrette. We commend our first responders for their selfless and heroic actions.

HHC(-) 1-155th wrapped up a productive weekend of drill at CSJFTC on August 8, 2021 with a couple of well-deserved promotions, as 1SG Lance Wilkerson and CPT John Scurrah oversee the pinning of both SPC(P) Thomas Ashley and SPC(P) Jeremy Rosenbaugh.

SGT Thomas Ashley, an Army Information Technology Specialist (25B), was an integral part of the BNs S6 success on maintaining reliable and effective comms during the 1-155th IN BNs recent NTC rotation. He was pinned by his wife, at his request, because he knows we can’t plan, prepare and execute as leaders without spousal support at home. SGT Ashley will moving on to another unit and his hard-work ethic will be missed.

SGT Jeremy Rosenbaugh, an Indirect Fire Infantryman (11C), proved to be a staple during the BNs employment of the Mortar PLT in offensive, defensive and retrograde ground combat tactical operations training at NTC. SGT Rosenbaugh will be moving up the chain, and we expect he’ll continue to do great things within the Mortar Platoon.

Congrats to you both as you’ve accepted the “Charge to the Newly Appointed Noncommissioned Officer”. We know you’ll uphold the traditions of the Mississippi Rifles and the standards of the Army.

CPT John Scurrah and 1SG Lance Wilkerson put on a great MWR cookout at CSJFTC for the Soldiers of HHC(-) 1-155th on 7 August 2021. The event was held after 1-155th IN BN concluded a productive day of PHAs and SRP reviews.

1-155th IN BN Commander and Command Sergeant Major, LTC Charles Moss and CSM Michael Cullop, visited and fellowshipped with the Soldiers to praise the hard work and outstanding performances during their recent NTC rotation.

Special thanks to 1SG Lance Wilkerson and SSG Kevin Jackson on offering their subject matter expertise as grillmasters. The steaks were outstanding!

Addition to original post: DJ Freddy Lee, Freddie L. Paige Jr., entertained us throughout the night. If anyone is looking for a DJ for their event, he is highly recommended. He offers up a very diverse playlist. A pleasure to deal with.

Yesterday, we celebrated our last 48 hours at Ft Irwin with some well deserved awards, promotions and the conclusion to the month long HHC mustache challenge.

For promotions, we welcome SGT Tamica Hill and SGT Jasmine Walk to the NCO Corps. We also congratulate SPC Jlesha Alexander, SPC Malik Bridges, and Jalen Muckelvene on their promotion to the rank of Specialist.

For awards, we recognized Soldiers who went above and beyond, before, during and after our month long venture through the Mojave desert. Our recipients for the Army Commendation Medal, we recognize SGT Tamica Hill, SPC Ryan Winterton, SSG Clay Johnson, SFC William Gentry, and SFC Jonathan Parks.

SGT Tamica Hill earned her ARCOM when she stood out from her peers, offering to help at every opportunity, taking charge of Soldiers when given a detail and even forcing her stubborn leadership to eat when they claimed to be too busy for chow. Thank you SGT Hill for supporting us and the mission. Your parent unit is damn lucky to have you!

Our next recipients, SSG Clay Johnson and SPC Ryan Winterton, played a major role in facilitating all logistical needs for the company. This dynamic duo made sure every Soldier in the company was adequately equipped for our 30 day desert camping trip. For over a year, SSG Johnson and SPC Winterton have made preparations for and stayed one step ahead of logistical operations for HHC resulting in a successful deployment to Ft Irwin. Thank you both for the hard work and many sleepless nights you gave up to insure mission success!

Our next recipient, SFC William Gentry, played an integral part as the S4 NCOIC. He too, spent over a year planning and preparing for our NTC rotation by facilitating the individual companies supply sergeants with every logistical need. SFC Gentry provided exceptional leadership and guidance to the companies supply sergeants while simultaneously providing assistance and guidance to the S4 OIC and HHC company commander. SFC Gentry is a master of his profession and an asset to the battalion!

Last but certainly not least, SFC Jonathan Parks. SFC Parks, a man of many roles, provided exceptional support administratively, technically and tactically. Pre-NTC, SFC Parks insured all Soldiers were prepared administratively in order to receive accurate, timely pay. During the NTC rotation, SFC Parks led HHC Soldiers in technical tasks such as establishing and break down of TOC operations and daily priorities of work while also lending his tactical knowledge to the battle staff. SFC Parks consistently put his Soldiers first, earning the respect and admiration of his Soldiers and his company leadership.

Lastly, we would like to recognize our winners of the NTC mustache challenge. Our first contestant, SGT Brock Hauser, displayed a majestic Super Mario bros rectangled lip fro that would put Mario to shame. Our next contestant, SGT Neil Fillhart, channelled Tom Selleck with his distinguished lip mop that commands respect from anyone within a 500 meter radius. Thank you gentlemen for single handedly improving the morale of the company with your majestic mustaches.

I would like to personally thank everyone in the HHC family for your hard work and support. All of you endured the sweltering heat, sleepless nights and hard work with a devilish smirk on your face😈. You accepted the challenge and successfully completed the task at hand. I'm proud to be a part of this company and look forward to seeing y'all progress in your military and civilian careers.

HHC(-) 1-155th IN Commander, CPT John Scurrah, supervises voting for NTC Rotation 21-08 Best Mustache Award following an award and promotion ceremony at the Rotational Unit Bivouac Area (RUBA) Fort Irwin, CA. It was a great morale booster for the Soldiers of HHC(-) after coming out of challenging Force-on-Force and Live Fire exercises in “the box”.

SGT Neill Fillhart came out the winner over SGT Brock Hauser as the formation most epic mustache. (photo credit SGT Jason Morris).

Today we congratulate SPC Tamica Hill, an exceptional Soldier who was loaned to us from the 184th ESC in order to support our mission at the National Training Center in California. SPC Hill was awarded a commanders coin from the Brigade commander in recognition for her hard work during NTC rotation 21-08. A well deserved recognition for a job well done. It will be hard for us to give her back to her home unit.
