No-fee FAA testing will not be available at McChord Field Education Center’s Testing Facility (Bldg 851, 3rd floor) between 15Feb-30Jun2026.

FAA testing in our facility is projected to resume starting in July about 2 days per month (walk-ins will no longer be available due to limited manpower).

Consequently, eligible JBLM customers will need to plan and schedule well in advance.

Reference lists seven (for fee) FAA-approved testing locations within region (distance listed is from McChord Field).

Fairchild AFB stopped administering FAA tests in 2019.

Government Shutdown

Please be advised, that because of the Government Shutdown, the Antideficiency Act prohibits Federal agencies from incurring obligations without an approved budget. Payment for your Military Tuition Assistance (MilTA), AFCOOL, Civilian Tuition Assistance, or Civilian Acquisition Tuition Assistance (ACQ TA) requests COULD be impacted for any courses in which the term begins during a shutdown period. There is also the possibility retroactive funding may NOT be approved for any terms that began during a shutdown period once a budget is approved.

What does this mean for you? Because of the shutdown, the DAF will be unable to fund any Military (MilTA/AFCOOL) or any Civilian Tuition Assistance request until an appropriations bill or Continuing Resolution is approved. This also affects Service members and DAF civilians who already have an approved Tuition Assistance funding request in AFVEC; an approved request is NOT a payment obligation document. Military and Civilian Tuition Assistance is always subject to funding availability as also described under Conditions on your funding request. It is highly recommended that you work with your academic institution as well as the below listed contact for your TA program to assist you with making informed decisions on whether to enroll and assume risk of self-pay.
