WHY DID I DECIDE TO RUN FOR JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSIONER, DISTRICT 3?
I was recently asked, “Why did you decide to run against the current commissioner?”
First, let me make something clear: I'm not running against anyone. I'm running FOR the position of Jefferson County Commissioner, District 3! This is not personal!
But if you're asking WHY I decided to run, here's my answer.
I've lived in Jefferson County District 3 for 12 years, and during that time, I have not personally seen the level of visible county leadership, community engagement, and improvements that I believe our residents deserve.
As we approach November 3, I believe every resident should be asking some important questions about the current commissioner's record.
And let me be clear: This has absolutely nothing to do with political party affiliation! This is about leadership, accountability, and results for ALL the people of District 3!
HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING:
1. What major improvements have been delivered to your community during his time in office?
2. Which roads in your community have been resurfaced, and which have been promised improvements but are still waiting?
3. How often has your county commissioner held public meetings in your community to hear residents' concerns?
4. What has been done to address drainage problems, neglected infrastructure, and public safety needs?
5. What measurable investments have been made in our smaller cities and unincorporated communities?
6. When major developments such as data centers are proposed, how are the affected residents included in the process?
7. What specific accomplishments can residents point to from the last four years, not just during election season?
8. Why has it taken the current commissioner 15 years to show visible accomplishments
These are fair questions for anyone who has held public office.
I want to hear from residents throughout District 3, including those living in our smaller cities and unincorporated communities.
What improvements have you seen in your community over the past 15 years? What still needs attention?
Let's have a conversation based on facts, public records, and the experiences of the people who live here.
Public service should be measured by more than promises. It should be measured by RESULTS!
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SHOULD NEVER BE USED AS POLITICAL LEVERAGE!
I've had conversations with numerous city leaders who have privately expressed their support for me but are reluctant to do so publicly. They've shared concerns about potentially being overlooked or ignored when their communities need county assistance.
I respect their desire to protect the interests of the people they serve.
But that raises a serious question: Should any mayor or city leader have to worry that political disagreements could affect their community's access to county resources?
Economic development, infrastructure funding, and county partnerships should be based on the needs of our communities, not political relationships or personal loyalties.
No city should have to choose between speaking freely and advocating for the resources its residents deserve.
Public resources belong to the PEOPLE, not to any elected official.
This is why I decided to run for this position. I believe every community deserves to be heard, every resident deserves representation, and every elected official should be accountable to the people they serve.
LEADERSHIP IS NOT ABOUT HOLDING A POSITION, ITS ABOUT SERVING THE PEOPLE! ALL THE PEOPLE!
