🚒 CLAM UNION TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT – COMMUNITY NOTICE 🚒

⚠️ Water Shuttle Training Exercise – Tonight at 7:00 PM ⚠️

The Clam Union Township Fire Department, along with fire departments from across Missaukee County, will be conducting a large-scale water shuttle training exercise this evening beginning at approximately 7:00 PM.

This training will involve numerous fire apparatus, tanker trucks, and emergency personnel operating in the area between the Forward Road Bridge near Prosper Road and Lotan Road, with shuttle routes extending throughout the training area.

Water shuttle operations are a critical component of rural firefighting, allowing departments to deliver large volumes of water to areas without hydrants. This training helps ensure that firefighters are prepared to work together efficiently during major emergencies.

🚒 What to Expect:
• Increased emergency vehicle traffic in and around the training area
• Fire apparatus entering and exiting roadways frequently
• Personnel working along roadways and near the river access points
• Training activities continuing throughout the evening

⚠️ For Your Safety:
• Drive with caution in the area.
• Slow down and be alert for emergency vehicles and personnel.
• Never pass emergency vehicles unless directed to do so.
• Give crews plenty of room to operate safely.

Today, the McBain Community Fire Department pauses to remember, honor, and pay tribute to the brave men and women who laid down their lives in service to our nation.

Our freedom carries a heavy price. We stand in deep gratitude for the heroes who gave their tomorrows so that we could have our todays. Their courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also keep their families in our thoughts today, honoring the profound loss they carry every day.

May we live in a way that respects and honors the incredible legacy of freedom they left behind.

The number of volunteer firefighters nationwide has fallen by nearly 𝟮𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 since 1984, according to recent data from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). www.NFPA.org

-𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗨𝗽: Nationwide calls for service have surged by roughly 𝟳𝟬% since 2008.
- 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲: In Michigan alone, active firefighter ranks dropped by over 𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 members between 2015 and 2023.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗠𝗰𝗕𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂

The McBain Community Fire Department protects over 𝟯,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 across a 𝟳𝟮-𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲-𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 coverage area, including the City of McBain and Richland and Riverside Townships.

-𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿: We rely on approximately 𝟭𝟴 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱-𝗼𝗻-𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹/𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 members to keep our community safe.
-𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: We provide and receive mutual aid from surrounding departments in Missaukee, Osceola, and Wexford Counties.

-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: 𝟰𝟰% of young adults (ages 18–34) expressed high interest in operational volunteer opportunities, finding a sense of accomplishment and a "team for life".
