OSBI INVESTIGATES SHOOTING IN MCALESTER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
JUNE 6, 2026

MCALESTER, OK - On June 5, 2026, the McAlester Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate a shooting.

At around 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of North Ninth Street regarding a shooting incident. When officers arrived on scene, they located two adult males and an adult female, who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

All three victims were treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. The female and one of the male victims are currently in stable condition and expected to make full recoveries. The second male victim passed away from his injuries.

Based on the information and evidence obtained, the OSBI and McAlester Police Department identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jeshaud Washington.

Washington was arrested and booked into the Pittsburg County Jail.

This is still an ongoing investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the OSBI will provide their comprehensive report to the Pittsburg County District Attorney's Office to determine official charges.

Anyone with additional information or possible video footage from the altercation is asked to contact the OSBI tip line at [email protected] or 1-800-522-8017.

The OSBI appreciates the McAlester Police Department and the Krebs Police Department for their continued assistance with this investigation.

πŸš— Hot car deaths are the leading cause of non-crash, vehicle-related deaths for children 14 and younger.
β˜€οΈ As temperatures start to rise across the country, it is essential for parents and caregivers everywhere to remember: Stop. Look. Lock.
πŸ‘¦ Before leaving a vehicle, stop, look for a child, and lock the car doors. It only takes a second.
πŸ“It is critical that all parents, caregivers, and drivers understand that children should never be left alone in a vehicle, not even for a minute.
