West 40 ISC #2 congratulates our friends at the Philip J. Rock Center and School in Glen Ellyn on the opening of their new playground! The playground is one of the final pieces of the school's multi-year construction project, creating a new learning environment for students who are deaf-blind.

Our Communications Team had the privilege of documenting the construction journey over three seasons of videos. We also extend our congratulations and best wishes to Executive Director Bonnie Jordan on her recent retirement.

This week, several West 40 ISC #2 colleagues are in Vietnam building global connections for education. As part of the West40 and AESA Global cohort, Stuart, Mallory, Justin, and Lynette are exploring Vietnam's education system firsthand, forming international partnerships, and bringing back innovative ideas to benefit the students and communities we serve. They're also experiencing Vietnam's rich culture and traditions!

Next stop on their tour is Japan!

Say hello to Ana Mojarro, a West 40 ISC #2 Educator Licensure Specialist! Ana supports educators with their licensure-related questions and helps prospective teachers navigate the certification process.

Today the West 40 ISC #2 STAT Team organized a training exercise for police, firefighters, and staff of Summit School District 104. The realistic drill brought together educators and first responders to practice emergency response, communication, and coordination in a school setting.

West 40 ISC #2 is helping students and educators build Global Connections around the world. In April 2026, West40 partnered with AESA Global to take West Cook County high school students on an unforgettable journey to China. Students experienced daily life in Chinese schools, formed lasting friendships, and explored historic and cultural landmarks.

Another ALOP Summit for the ages! On Thursday, student advocates, mentors and educators from across joined West 40 ISC #2 for our second annual ALOP Summit! With more than 250 registrations, participants connected with peers, collaborated on new ideas, heard from an inspiring keynote speaker, and explored new ways to support students. West40 thanks everyone who attended and helped make this year's summit a success!
