Maywood OEM is monitoring the forecast for a significant winter storm likely late Saturday night into Monday. Snow may begin late Saturday night with the heaviest snow likely falling Sunday into a portion of Sunday evening. Considerable disruption to transportation and daily life is possible. We urge residents to take preparedness actions now and monitor local news and weather.

We would like to thank everyone who came out today to lay our brother Geroge Steger to rest who had 71 years of service with the Maywood Fire Dept as well as a WWII Vet. Special thanks to Rochelle Park Fire Department Saddle Brook Volunteer Fire Department, Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department for doing flag detail on rt 80, New Jersey State Police for the es**rt, North Hudson Fire Officers IAFF L3951 flag detail, and last Amici's Restaurant for donating the food to the Members today in honor of George for his service. We greatly appreciate you all.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of George Steger. George was 102 years old when he passed on to the next life last night surrounded by family and friends. George was the longest standing member of Protection Hook & Ladder Co 1 of the Maywood Fire Department where he selflessly devoted over 71 years of his life to the people of the borough. During that time George held many roles including: Captain, Lieutenant, Treasurer, and Safety Officer. We ask that you keep George and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this time. Arrangement details will be announced soon. Please standby until that time. Rest in peace George we will take it from here.
