We were honored to show Chief Haley our work on Thursday nights at the Forest Park Blue Line with great partner organizations like Night Ministry and Loyola Street Medicine. Partnerships and collaboration are key to ending homelessness.

A new study from the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois Chicago shows that homelessness in the Latine community is on the rise in Illinois.

"Homelessness looks very different for this community than the picture that most people have in their heads," report co-author Ivan Arenas said. "We don't tend to think about people that are doubled up in a friend's home, in a family home, or even with strangers in apartments."

Doubled-up homelessness, which means temporarily living with friends or family, is far more prevalent among Latinos than other populations, experts say.

We are so grateful to our friends at Western Cook County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.! In addition to providing meals for the guests at our Anderson Emergency Shelter, they used their Derby Party and Fashion Show to raise funds for Housing Forward. We’re honored to share that Housing Forward is receiving a grant through United Way of Metro Chicago’s Response Fund. Through the Response Fund, United Way of Metro Chicago is investing $250,000 in 20 organizations to immediately address housing and homelessness prevention, as needs continue to rise in the latest 211 Metro Chicago data.
