🌟 October’s First Team Member Spotlight – Malia Selsing 🌟
Malia joined Mayville EMS in 2007 and dedicated many years to serving our community. In 2015, she decided to retire from EMS to spend more time with her family. But in 2024, Malia felt that familiar call to serve and decided it was time to come out of retirement and get back on the ambulance. We welcomed her back with open arms! đźš‘
Malia is a strong part of our EMS crews, bringing years of experience as an AEMT and a natural ability to mentor and support new EMTs. She is also an adjunct instructor with the Mayville EMS Training Center, where she helps with skill labs and serves as a proctor when students complete their clinical time in the back of the ambulance.
One of Malia’s greatest strengths is her ability to remain calm, provide direction, and help students build confidence. Her experience and willingness to share her knowledge play an important role in helping us develop strong, capable EMTs. We are so fortunate to have her as part of our training team!
When Malia isn't serving her community as an AEMT, she continues to offer care and support in another meaningful role. As an office coordinator for a pathologist, she compassionately guides families and professionals through a time that may feel difficult or uncertain. WIth patience, kindness, and understanding, she helps families find the answers they need and take gentle steps toward comfort, peace, and closure.
And Malia’s dedication to helping others doesn’t stop there! She and her husband are also foster parents. Thinking about others and finding ways to help is simply part of who Malia is. She gives so much of herself to others, and we are incredibly grateful for that.
When she does find some free time, Malia enjoys spending time with her family and going camping. And here’s one more fun fact about Malia—she has a twin sister!
Malia’s commitment to her family, her community, EMS, and helping others is truly something special. We are incredibly blessed that she answered the call once again and continues to support both Mayville EMS and the Mayville EMS Training Center.
Please join us in recognizing Malia Selsing and thanking her for everything she does for our crews, our students, our community, and the people we serve.
