MPD in The Community:
Over the past several weeks, members of the Maysville Police Department have had the opportunity to spend time with our community in a lot of different ways.
🎒 👟 We joined many community partners and helped welcome students back to school at the Back to School Bash at Paul & Jerry King Park. It was a hot, rainy day but one that brought families, first responders, organizations, and resources together in one place.
💈 We also got to be part of a Back to School Free Haircut Event, hosted at a local barber shop co-owned by one of our own officers. Officers stopped by and enjoyed some fun with the kids while they waited their turn for their back to school cut. Thanks to the generosity of the barbers and local business, more than 75 kids received free haircuts!
☕ Our Coffee with Cops event at the East End Substation gave us a chance to slow things down a little, share some coffee and donuts, and simply spend time talking with the people we serve. Our personnel then took to the streets in our golf cart to finish handing out donuts!
🇺🇸 And most recently, we joined our county partners on West 3rd Street this morning for the 9/11 remembrance ceremony, taking time together to honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who answered the call 25 years ago.
These events may all look a little different, but the purpose behind them is the same: showing up for our community.
We’re grateful for every organization, business, fellow first responder, volunteer, parent, child, and community member who continues to show up alongside us.
This is our community, too — and we’re proud to be part of it.
