My name is Felton Thomas Rainey
I’m a republican I have lived In maysville Georgia since 1980 I’m originally from Sandy springs Georgia I have recently announced my intentions to run for sheriff of Jackson county

In 1991 I was shot while working in my store I spent one year in the hospital and another year recovering at home during my emergency surgery in the operating room I died for 3 minutes during that time god appeared to me in a strong way and told me to go back and do good things for others I was very grateful to be alive and have since made it my life’s work to help others my first job after I recovered was as an Olympic guard for the Georgia power company substations

I joined the fire department and became a fire fighter and I retired after twenty five years of service and I have ran many foot races including the peach tree road race in full fireman’s gear to raise money for children in foster homes I was the foreman and supervisor of organizing the volunteers for the disaster recovery efforts in Florida three times and in Mississippi for two years helping with hurricane Katrina damage after a fire in the Methodist Children’s home I supervised in rebuilding the twelve bedroom. Lodge in Decatur Georgia after a tornado devastated commerce ga I lead volunteers to clean up debris and repair homes after the flooding in austell Georgia I lead efforts with other volunteers to clean up and rebuild over thousands of homes

I attend new Salem Methodist church and as part of our ministry we build wheel chair ramps for banks and Jackson county I also operated a bread bank in Jackson county until so is covid 19 closed it down currently I assist each year raising money to provide Christmas gifts for foster children or low income families in Jackson county

My mission in life is to serve others and help the less fortunate in 2008 I received the Georgia Matthews award to recognize excellence in missions ministry by United states Methodist men of north Georgia conference for my efforts with hurricane Katrina and other disaster recovery work
