Township of Hamilton Dive Team

Township of Hamilton Dive Team Volunteer Marine Rescue and Underwater Recovery Team. This is the public page for the Township of Hamilton Dive Team.

We are a dedicated volunteer water resource team. The team is a nonprofit, volunteer group of dedicated individuals. This unit has been in existence for more than two decades, and has for many years been under the direction of Township of Hamilton Rescue. With the support of Hamilton Township officials, the team has upgraded equipment and training to a level we can all be proud of. We also assist

neighboring counties and communities as needed. We work closely with all Fire, EMS and Police Departments in Atlantic County to coordinate efforts for rescue or recovery of a victim.

❄️ No ice is safe ice! Stay off ALL frozen surfaces! ❄️

❄️ We would like to remind everyone to stay off of the ice! Especially as the temperature begins to warm and we all venture outside, the ice may seem fun and exciting, but the danger of falling through the ice is not worth it!

❄️ Dial 911 immediately if you see someone fall through the ice! Untrained rescuers that go out on the ice, more often than not, become a second victim!

❄️ If you can safely reach the victim from the shore, extend a sturdy object for the subject to hold on to.

❄️ If available, throw a rope or flotation device to the victim to hold on to, but remain on land.

On May 5th, the Hamilton Twp Dive was able to use the Hess school pool for a drill. Divers practiced self rescue techniques while using a blacked out mask, to free themselves from be entangled. Divers also worked on locating and using their cutting tools used to free themselves of entanglement, with blacked out masks. As you may know, most water in Hamilton Twp and the surrounding communities is cedar water, which causes a severe lack of visibility for divers working at the bottom, in many cases divers have zero visibility.

Our thoughts are with Robert “Bobby” Hamilton’s family and friends during this trying time.
Bobby was an integral member of multiple agencies for the Twp of Hamilton for many years, being the first Chief of the Dive Team.

You will be deeply missed sir!
