The MMS Cross Country teams traveled to Hudson Middle School for their first meet on Tuesday. Vaglin Samf won the boys race with an impressive time of 11:54! Evan Kerns followed quickly after with a time of 12:11. Top finishers in the girls race were Lucy and Moira Stusek with times of just under 15 minutes! A special shout out to Rose Harstine, Seihi Lindstrom, Indy Swetel and Joey Gambatese who dropped significant time from their previous personal records. Both teams had an excellent kick-off to the season. We can’t wait to see our runners take on the competition at Kimpton next week!

The 8th grade football team won a hard fought battle with Nordonia 28-22 Wednesday. The Wildcats struck first with long pass from Brayden Bandiera to Declan McHugh. Bandiera scored on a long run to put the wildcats up 14-0 in the first quarter. Nordonia fought back and took the lead 16-14 in the 3rd qtr. before Bandiera tossed TDs to Kaleb Burton and McHugh again to put Mayfield ahead for good. Tough Blocking by Adam Mushyakov, Brayden Toth, Vlad Bederman, Zane Longberry, Nick Perrinacci, Donavin Resnik and Micheal Helton helped the Wildcats get key first downs to run out the clock.

The defense rallied behind the play of Jacob Pinto, Liam Quinn, Dorian Holman, Zane Longberry, Legend Molikakis, Bandiera and Micheal Federico contributed to slowing down the Nordonia attack. Pinto recovered a fumble and batted down a 4th down pass to close out the Knights final threats.
