This morning the Maybrook Fire Department had the honor the attend the Village of Maybrook Memorial Day service. It was a honor to speak with Ronald Feller and Richard Golden. Thank you gentlemen for your service.
The the Commissioners, Officers and members of the Maybrook Fire Department would like to thank all members of our armed services that have give the ultimate sacrifice.

Our Guest Speaker, former Orange County Legislator, former Town of Montgomery Supervisor, and proud American veteran, Mr. Ronald Feller has been active in public service in the Town of Montgomery for nearly two decades and has held several leadership roles in local government.
He first joined the Montgomery Town Board in 2008, serving as a Town Councilman until 2012. He later became Director of the Town’s Parks and Recreation Department from 2013 through 2017, where he helped oversee community recreation programs and the town facilities. In 2020, he returned to the Town Board as a Councilman and Deputy Supervisor under then-Supervisor Brian Maher.
In late 2022, he was appointed Town Supervisor after Brian Maher was elected to the New York State Assembly. He officially served as Montgomery Town Supervisor during 2023 and focused on issues involving town growth, budgeting, infrastructure, and public safety.
In January 2024, the Town Boards of Montgomery and Wallkill jointly appointed him to fill a vacancy representing Orange County’s 9th Legislative District in the Orange County Legislature. Local officials cited his experience in municipal government and community involvement as reasons for the appointment.
Beyond public office, he has always been committed to community involvement. He has worked closely with local organizations, youth sports programs, charitable causes, and veterans’ groups throughout the Hudson Valley. He and his family have also been longtime supporters of community service initiatives and charitable foundations that have helped many residents throughout Orange County.
As a veteran himself, he understands firsthand the sacrifice, duty, and dedication required to serve our nation. His respect for those who wore the uniform and those who made the ultimate sacrifice has been evident throughout his years of public service and participation in veterans and Memorial Day events across our community.

It is my honor to introduce our 2026 Memorial Day Grand Marshal, Mr. Richard Golden.
Mr. Golden has been a proud member of Maybrook VFW Post 2064 for the past 45 years. His military service began when he enlisted in the United States Navy on September 18, 1968, in San Diego, California. In January 1969, he shipped out aboard the USS Piedmont (AD-17) for his first tour of duty, serving in Hawaii, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Japan.
He later served aboard the USS King (DLG-10) during a deployment to the Gulf of Tonkin, approximately 20 miles from Haiphong Harbor, Vietnam. During this deployment, the ship’s mission included search and rescue operations as well as picket duty in support of military operations during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Golden was honorably discharged from active duty on August 29, 1972. He later moved to Orange County, New York, where he attended and graduated from Orange County Community College in 1975. During that time, he met his wife, and in 1978 they made Maybrook their home. For the past 48 years, they have proudly resided on Wallace Avenue.
Today, we recognize not only his military service, but also his decades of dedication to our community and fellow veterans.
