Multiple rounds of storms are expected on Wednesday, with severe storms expected mainly during the afternoon and evening. These storms will quickly become severe, initially capable of producing large hail to 2+ inches in diameter. As storms become more linear later in the afternoon and evening, the threat for damaging winds will increase, with some gusts potentially to 75+ mph. Tornadoes will be possible, some potentially strong (EF2+). Localized flooding is also possible if storms repeat over the same areas. Ensure your severe weather shelter is accessible and that you can receive weather warnings, and consider adjusting any outdoor plans.

**STRIKE THAT, REVERSE IT: CORRECTION the outside lanes will be closed! Not the inside.**

Remember those Lemonweir River bridge lane closures from last week? Well, they're back.
Starting Monday, June 8 at 7:00 a.m., lane closures will once again be in place on the bridge. The good news? This time it's the inside lanes that will be closed instead of the outside lanes.

Word around town is that the City of Mauston has been spotted on TikTok and Instagram.
Sources say City Hall is trying to be "cool" now.

Witnesses report sightings of reels, photos, community updates, and possibly even some behind-the-scenes content. Unconfirmed rumors suggest staff members may have learned what a hashtag is.

Will there be viral dance videos? The City Attorney advised us not to answer that question.

PUBLIC NOTICE: The men’s restroom at Lion’s Park is temporarily closed due to vandalism and damage. We estimate it will be back up and running by noon tomorrow, but until then, the women’s bathroom will be open for all to use.

CITY OF MAUSTON
2026 RESIDENTIAL CLEAN UP

Mauston’s 4 residential cleanup dates for 2026 will be handled on April 7, June 2, August 4, and October 6. Items are to be placed curbside for pick-up NOT MORE THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE THE PICK UP DATE, BY 7 AM.
• Garbage/Trash: Must be in clear bags or in a container of 50 pounds or less and not to exceed the equivalent of one 10ft x 10ft pile. Anything larger than 10 x 10 pile will not be picked up by Republic Services. There will be an extra charge from the City to the Resident if the City crew is required to pick up the larger than 10x 10 pile.
• Appliances “White Goods”: City crew will collect stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, metal, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Must have a pre-paid sticker attached. Purchase stickers directly through Republic Services
• Furniture: Republic Services will collect larger furniture items, such as sofas, chairs, tables, etc.
• Glass: Window glass must be removed from the frames and placed in a trash can or box.
• Mattresses and Box Springs: Must have a pre-paid sticker attached. Purchase stickers directly through Republic Services
• Electronics: Computers/TVs/printers/scanners/home copiers/microwaves WILL NOT be picked up curbside. Take these items to Republic Services for recycling, or call for special pickup arrangements.
Items that CANNOT be picked-up at any time:
• Tires, batteries, brick, rock, concrete, large quantities of remodeling/construction debris, used oil, paint-stains-varnish-etc., in a liquid state.
**Any item that is put out that is prohibited is subject to additional charges by the city**
Trash may not be placed at the curb more than 24 hours before pick up day. Trash must be bagged or containerized properly or it will not be picked up. Note: It is illegal to bring garbage into the City of Mauston that is not produced by Mauston City residents. Fines will be issued.
