Maumee Valley Volkssporters MVV is a member club of the American Volkssport Association (website: AVA.org). MVV hosts 10k or shorter walks, sanctioned by AVA for IVV credit.

New cover photo is the Sodus Point, NY Lighthouse. Now, a museum on Lake Ontario. There is also a great walking event hosted there. Good places to eat and ice cream!

DIRECTIONS TO THE START BOX: 5100 W Central Ave., Toledo Take I-475/US23 N to exit 13, right on Central Ave. about 1 mile. Follow the signs and turn left into the park. Signs will lead you to the Metz Visitors Center/Window on Wildlife. Lots of parking available. We will be at the picnic table near the fountain.
COMMENTS: Walk will be on established trails (many are paved) within the Metropark. Be aware of roots and branches on the natural surfaces. You should see birds and may see deer and rabbits. Sorry, no gators!

This Saturday, 2 May, we will be walking at Oak Openings Metropark. Start is at the Buehner Center patio. Registration from 10am - 12pm (noon). There are 2 separate 5km routes. You can do one or both. See you there.

5240 Wilkins Rd. Take I-475/US23 N to exit 8, left on
Airport Hwy. Pass Toledo Express Airport. Left at Rte.
20A. After less than a ½ mile Rte. 20A turns left. Stay
straight here, you will be on Wilkins Rd. About 2½
miles along Wilkins Rd. turn right onto Oak Openings
Pkwy. and signs to the Buehner Center. Lots of parking
available. We will be at the picnic table at the

If you're interested in walks, the walk books are a great way to keep track of where you walked and the distance you covered. You buy them from us or most any AVA walk. Find walks all over the USA and the world: ava.org. Links on that site to world-wide walks. It's warm weather now come out and walk with us.

I'm working on the upcoming walk routes in the Toledo Area Metroparks. Hope to see many walkers enjoy these summer events.

Our next walk is Wed., 4 March on the Chessie Circle Rail Trail. This was postponed from a frigid late Jan. date.
The start is at 5pm from the trailhead at 2848 Copland Blvd., near Detroit Ave. Restrooms are there. The 5km is completely on the Chessie Circle route. The 10km will use the new spur to cross over the I-80/90 bridge into Maumee. We will get to the Fort Miamis site before heading back to finish.

This Saturday, 14 February, at Franklin Park Mall, we're hosting a Sweetheart Walk, in the mall. A great place to walk without cold, wind, or precipitation. Starts at 10am. See you there at 5001 Monroe St! Start is next to Dick's Sporting Goods entrance.

Our next walk will be on Sat., 7 Feb. on the University Trail in Toledo, OH. The start is at Brew Coffee Bar at 1440 Secor Rd. Parking and access are behind the plaza which houses this business. Find the details at ava.org.
