~Vehicle Fire~

This evening just before 1700 hours Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department with the respective run card was dispatched for a vehicle on fire on Factory Ave. Due to conflicting reports on the location the Onondaga County 911 Center also dispatched Mattydale to the area. Mattydale car 2 engine 2 was responded on dispatch while Lyncourt car 2 and engine 1 also was responding.

Lyncourt Car 2 and Mattydale engine 2 arrived simultaneously arrived confirming a vehicle on fire in front of the Town of Salina garage. Mattydale deployed an 1” 3/4 bumper line and began to to extinguish the fire. Mattydale car 2, Lyncourt engine 1, Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department engine 8 arrived on scene as well. All departments worked together to extinguish the fire, no injuries were reported. The Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit was requested to investigate the incident. Once able all units returned to service closing the call.

Today we were privileged and very thankful to receive a donation from the Kiwanis Club of Liverpool. They graciously donated a Pediatric Trauma Care Bag to our department to be used when managing care for the children of our community. ~ Vehicle Fire ~

On June 16, 2026, at 10:43 AM, the Mattydale Fire Department, along with the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department, were dispatched by Onondaga County 911 for a reported vehicle fire within the Mattydale Fire District.

Mattydale Engine 2 and Car 2 responded within three minutes of dispatch. While approaching the scene, responding crews observed smoke in the area.

Engine 2 arrived on scene to find a gray four-door SUV with heavy fire involvement in the engine compartment. The nozzle firefighter deployed a 1¾-inch front bumper attack line while the company officer conducted and transmitted the initial size-up for incoming units. Upon arrival, Mattydale Car 2 established and assumed command of the incident.

Fire suppression operations were initiated by Engine 2 personnel. Shortly thereafter, Lyncourt Engine 1 and Mattydale Squad 4 arrived on scene, providing additional manpower to assist with operations.

Within a short period of time, the fire was successfully knocked down by Engine 2 crews, and personnel transitioned to overhaul operations to ensure complete extinguishment and check for fire extension.

The Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit was requested to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

All units cleared the scene and returned to service at 11:52 AM.

~motor Vehicle Collision with Rollover~

This morning just after 3:30 Mattydale fire with Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department as automatic mutual aid were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision possible roll over and utility pole involved.

Mattydale car 2, car 3, squad 4 responded with Hinsdale rescue 5 and Lyncourt car 2. Upon arrival of the police agency they confirmed one vehicle still on its roof at the entrance to a grocery store also a pole to be leaning with wires hanging low. Mattydale car 2 arrived began surveying the scene. Hinsdale rescue 5 arrived with Mattydale squad 4 as well. Units on scene began evaluating the patient, checking for hazards of the vehicle and receiving pole information for national grid. Units operated on scene till just after 0400 before leaving the scene with police and national grid. We would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance.

Last evening the Mattydale Fire Department EMTs took part in some special training. As a department with a NYS certification as an Advanced Life Support First Response Agency, one of only a few in our county, we carry advanced airway management equipment to better treat patients having serious breathing difficulties. With an updated protocol by NYS Department of Health, our EMTs are now able to insert supraglottic airways and use CPAP for our most sick patients. We are excited to bring this new level of care to our community.. special thanks to our team for their continued dedication and to our partnership with NAVAC Ambulance Director of Training, Sean Cooley for providing the training.

The Mattydale Fire Department is excited to launch a new fitness and wellness program at the station. It is something the Chief's Office has been working on for about 6 months and we are so happy with the participation tonight. 🇺🇸 Community Helping Community 🇺🇸

Yesterday, the Mattydale Fire Department was proud to assist our friends at Pitcher Hill Apartments after the flagpole halyard (rope) broke, preventing the American Flag from being properly displayed.

Utilizing the reach and capabilities of Truck 3, our firefighters were able to safely access the top of the flagpole, re-string the halyard, and return the pole to service. Thanks to this teamwork, the Stars and Stripes are once again flying proudly for all to see.

The Mattydale Fire Department is always happy to lend a helping hand when needed, and we are honored to support members of our community in ways both large and small.

Thank you to the staff at Pitcher Hill Apartments for allowing us to assist with this project, and thank you to our dedicated firefighters who proudly represented the department.

~Mutual Aid Fire~

This morning just before 11am. Mattydale Fire was dispatched with the remainder of the box alarm for a reported house fire in Moyers Corners Fire Department station 2 district. Mattydale car 1 and engine 2 responded as the R.I.T company. Upon arrival of a Moyers Corners chief it was confirmed there was fire showing from the back side of the building striking a signal 99.

Upon arrival of Mattydale R.I.T established in front of the residence. The R.I.T crew confirmed the locations of companies working inside and make sure the residence is open for easier means of egress in case it was needed. Mattydale operated on scene for just under an hour before being released by command.
