As a reminder, Town offices are closed today, Monday, September 7 and we'll reopen Tuesday, September 8 with normal business hours.

Good morning, Matthews! The Matthews Alive Festival, presented by Novant Health – Matthews Medical Center, officially kicks off today, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Tonight the Carnival and All-You-Can-Ride Wristband Night starts at 4:00pm.
Main stage opens up at 6:00pm.

Tomorrow, 9/5, the parade kicks off at 9:30am with the updated parade route.

Grab your family, meet up with friends, and come enjoy one of our community’s favorite traditions. Let’s make this Labor Day weekend unforgettable!

A few helpful reminders for this weekend
💧 Drink plenty of water before and during the festival.
☕ Limit caffeine and alcohol, which can contribute to dehydration.
🌙 If you have a serious preexisting medical condition or are sensitive to the heat, consider visiting after the sun goes down.
☀️ Take breaks in the shade and listen to your body.

In observance of the Labor Day holiday, there will be no trash/recycling/yard waste collection on Monday, September 7.
Waste Pro will operate on a one‑day delay for the rest of the week, with Friday’s route serviced on Saturday.

Town of Matthews offices will also be closed on Monday and will reopen Tuesday with normal hours.
