This morning Mattawan Fire District will be conducting a training in coordination with Medflight. If you see a helicopter land later today near the village do not be alarmed it is just a training.

Members of the Mattawan Fire District recently spent time conducting hose deployment drills and water flow testing throughout the district. These training evolutions help ensure our firefighters are proficient in rapidly deploying hose lines and verify that our water supply systems are capable of delivering the volumes needed to effectively combat fires.

Regular training and testing are critical to maintaining operational readiness and providing the highest level of service to our community. By continuously honing our skills and evaluating our resources, we are better prepared to protect the lives and property of those we serve.

Thank you to our dedicated firefighters who continue to invest countless hours in training and preparedness.

There will be a controlled burn this morning at 8:00am in the 50800 block of Main St. (County Road 652). Fire trucks will be on scene. If you see a fire burning in a field in this area, no need too call 911.

Tonight, crews from the Mattawan Fire District spent the evening sharpening their skills performing aerial apparatus operations training. Training focused on safe and effective positioning, elevated master stream operations, ladder placement techniques, and coordinated teamwork while operating at height.

Regular hands-on training ensures our firefighters are prepared to operate efficiently and safely when called to emergencies involving rescues, large commercial incidents, and elevated fire attacks.

We are proud of the dedication our members continue to show in building and maintaining these critical skills for the communities we serve.
