Exciting News!!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been honored to receive nearly $25,000 in grants to support our community's safety and education initiatives.

$15,500 of this funding will go directly toward enhancing our communications and improving Firefighter safety. The remaining funds will be dedicated to fire education and outreach programs, focusing on school-age children and senior citizens through the SAFE program.

We’re grateful for these opportunities to better serve and protect our community. Thank you to all of our state and local partners for supporting these programs!!

It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Retired Mattapoisett Fire Chief Ronald Scott.

Chief Scott passed away on March 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He joined the Mattapoisett Fire Department in 1968 and faithfully served the community for over four decades. He was appointed Fire Chief in 1993 and led the department with pride and dedication until his retirement in 2009.

Chief Scott was known for his strong work ethic, commitment to the department, and deep admiration for his family. He served with honor and was a mentor to many members, leaving a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to the entire Scott family during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Chief.
