Mattapoisett residents: I am seeking re-election to the Mattapoisett School Committee and would appreciate your vote on May 16th.
As a professional working mother of four young children below the age of 11 and ranging from pre-k to grade 5, I am deeply invested in the quality of education available to all students within the Mattapoisett Schools. With the support of my family, I am willing to continuing serving this beautiful community because I feel my background, my ability to collaborate, and my work ethic will be an asset to the town. There are many issues facing our students, our families, and our town; however, my top three areas of focus for the next term are:
1. Literacy for all!
2. Financial Transparency and Sustainability
3. Safety and Security of the entire educational community
I believe my background as an Actuary and as the current Head of Operations for a financial technology company would continue to be an asset to both the schools and the town over the next three years. While working as an Actuary, I was a member of the Society of Actuaries, which is a professional organization with a strict code of ethics, professionalism, and continuing education requirements. These core tenets are deeply engrained in me as an individual, as a parent, and as a community servant. Today, I oversee all Human Resources and Financial Operations for a 70+ person financial technology company. In my career as well as my service to our schools, I am willing to ask questions, listen, synthesize information, and ultimately make decisions.
During my first term, I had the distinct honor to serve the constituents of Mattapoisett in numerous capacities, including two years on the Policy Subcommittee, two years on the Budget Subcommittee, one year on the Superintendent Goals Subcommittee, and one year on the Capital Planning Committee. Over these past three years I have served on a number of administrative hiring committees, the Mattapoisett teachers negotiation subcommittee, and I have served on the town sponsored school facility study led by the UMass Collins Center.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you are only looking for a candidate who will restrict books, then I can honestly say I am not your candidate. I am a registered Independent who believes every single issue should be taken on its own merits. I believe our school district will best move forward focused on the three issues I have outlined.
