Mathiston Muscadine Festival 2013

Saturday, September, 14 2013
The inaugural Mathiston Muscadine Festival will be held on the location of the “Red Cap” building in Mathiston on Highway 82 west. The Festival will begin at 6:30 am for pre-race day registration and 7:00 for preregistration with the inaugural 5K run beginning at 7:30 am at Red Cap. The race course will cross through historic downtown Mathiston. The festivities will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The activities will include arts, crafts, southern muscadine product cooking contest, live music, and much more.
The festival has been recognized as a fund raiser for the Mathiston Veterans Monument by the Mathiston Economic Development and Support Council.
The Mathiston Veterans Monument is the process of construction and designed to recognize 18 men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our town and our country to protect our freedom.
Applications for the arts & crafts vendors and the 5K run may be picked up at City Hall. Registration is by mail or you may pick up and drop forms at the Mathiston City Hall. Fees must be paid in advance, and no refunds are possible. The show will be held rain or shine.

The goals of this organization are to benefit Mathiston in the following ways:

1) To promote economic development
2) To establish a sense of community
3) To promote civic pride
4) To preserve Mathiston's rich history and heritage
5) To leave our town "better than we found it" for the sake of
future generations

The mission statement is as follows:
"To form an organization of like-minded citizens for the promotion and betterment of Mathiston and to achieve this end by targeting specific projects that will enhance the towns aesthetics, livability, and economy."
