Recently, the Corpus Christi Fisheries Management District collaborated with Lake Corpus Christi State Park staffto install green lights on both fishing piers in the park. This was Phase 3 of a Conservation License Plate grant our district competed for desgined to improve fishing opportunities for anglers within our district. Previously, Phase 2 included the installation of pine fish habitat cubes and during the drought we took the opportunity to remove any degraded artificial fish habitat. Phase 1 involved adding hardwood structure beneath the wooden fishing pier to provide more habitat for fish as the water rises. With Phase 3 completed, these new green lights will draw fish in at night and create even more fishing opportunities for anglers. Once Bass and Crappie populations rebound, night anglers should start seeing those fish congregate below the green light. We hope this will make a more enjoyable experience for our evening and nighttime anglers. Let us know what you catch!
