GUIDELINES FOR COMMENTING ON MPL SOCIAL MEDIA

The Massillon Public Library (otherwise known as “MPL”) uses social media (e.g., websites, social networking sites, email, etc.) to convey information about library programs and services; obtain patron feedback; exchange ideas; reach out to potential new patrons; issue or respond to breaking news; respond to publicity; advertise open employment positi

ons, and discuss activities and events. Comments to MPL social media posts are welcome; however, the publication of a comment does not imply endorsement or agreement by the Massillon Public Library, its staff, or its Board of Trustees. Comments should be kind, professional, and of a nature that fosters healthy discussion of a topic. Comments that contain any of the following will be removed from MPL social media sites:
-- Obscene or racist content
-- Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
-- Potentially inflammatory and/or libelous statements
-- Private and/or personal information published without permission or request
-- Comments completely unrelated to the content of the post or forum
-- Hyperlinks to material that is not directly related to the discussion or are deemed offensive
Submission of a comment establishes the acceptance of and adherence to the above guidelines. Patrons who repeatedly violate these guidelines will be banned from commenting on MPL social media sites, and risk being banned from using the library in its entirety, as well as involvement by police agencies. Patrons may not post photographs or videos directly to any MPL social media sites. If a patron wishes to willingly share a photograph or video with MPL and its subsequent social media sites, the patron can email that and any other relevant information to [email protected] for review, approval, and possible posting. Emailing of this information to MPL does not guarantee the posting of the material; however, please know that by emailing the images to MPL, the patron does consent to the use of their image and/or voice (or that of their child) on the MPL website, MPL print publications, and any and all MPL social media sites.
