Spring Hill Historic Home Spring Hill Historic Home & Underground Railroad Site is a privately-funded historic home and site located in Massillon, Ohio, open to the public since 1973.

Inhabited by the Rotch-Wales families for over 150 years, Spring Hill is a circa 1820 documented Underground Railroad site.

Happy World Bee Day! šŸ

Did you know? A common practice for homes in Northeast and Central Ohio during the 1800s and early 1900s was to have a bee room inside your house! Bees played an vital role in agriculture and household production, providing crop pollination, honey, honeycomb, and beeswax. Spring Hill has a dedicated bee attic with a small flight notch through the upper exterior of the house. Our home library even has books about bee keeping and cultivating. While no longer active, the notch and attic can still be viewed while touring the home.
