PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Heat Exposure Can Turn Deadly in Minutes.
As temperatures rise, it's important to remember that the inside of a vehicle can become dangerously hot within minutes—even with the windows cracked open.
On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly climb to life-threatening levels.
Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle. Not even for a minute.
Children and animals are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses because their bodies heat up much faster than adults. Heatstroke can occur rapidly and can cause serious injury or death.
Protect your loved ones by following these simple steps:
• Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle.
• Place a purse, phone, or other essential item in the back seat as a reminder.
• Keep vehicles locked when not in use to prevent children from entering unattended.
• If you see a child or pet alone in a hot vehicle, call 911 immediately.
Remember: Look Before You Lock. Every Trip. Every Time.
A moment of forgetfulness can become a tragedy. Together, we can prevent heat-related deaths and keep our children and pets safe.
