Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (GLS)(www.seaway.dot.gov) celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2019. The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway System (GLSLS) was constructed as a commercial shipping channel from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean and back. The Eisenhower Lock is a United States-operated lock in a series along the St. Lawrence River. There are two GLS-operated locks in Massena,

New York: Eisenhower Lock and Snell Lock. They are both gravity-fed and are located on the Wiley-Dondero Canal, which is about 8 nautical miles long. The Seaway System is managed in partnership by both the U.S. and Canada. For up-to-date information on estimated vessel transit times, you can try one of the three options listed below:

1. Call (315) 769-2422 for a voice recording of that day’s projected lockage schedule.

2. Additional information is on Seaway binational website at
https://greatlakes-seaway.com/en/navigating-the-seaway/seaway-map/. This map updates every 15 minutes with details on those ships currently in transit within the Seaway System.

3. To receive specific lock information, visit our Vessel Transit Information page (https://www.glslw-glvm.com/R2/jsp/R2.jsp?language=E&loc=VT00.jsp) and pull down the Order of Turn information. This annual conference focuses on fostering collaboration among growers, shippers, and policy makers to strengthen supply chain efficiency, particularly in the Great Lakes region and for U.S. agricultural exports.

During the conference, Administrator McCoshen also participated in a panel focused on priorities and current projects for increasing trade and utilization of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.
