Village of Massena 2023 Spring Clean-Up!
The village does not pick up items at the curb of Massena Housing Authority units. The MHA will transport your items to the Transport Station. Our tenants will not receive individual vouchers from the village.
From May 1st through May 6th Monday-Saturday 7:00am – 3:00pm, the residents of the MHA are to call the office and inform us if you have items to be disposed of during spring clean-up. Family housing residents are then to bring those items to the curbside. Please make sure to call the office prior to placing items at the curb for Spring Clean-Up.
ITEMS CANNOT BE PUT OUT PRIOR TO MONDAY, May1st!
Residents of our elderly/disabled housing should bring their items to the trash room, and we will dispose of them. If any residents of elderly/disabled housing cannot bring the trash items to the trash room, please call the office and a member of our maintenance staff will assist you.
REMINDER: The following items CANNOT be disposed of during the Spring Clean-Up
• Normal recycling items such as paper, cardboard, plastic bottles/containers, and glass items
• Textiles-drapes, curtains, clothing, bedding, etc.
• Electronics-computers, televisions, radios, monitors, etc.
• Hazardous Materials-antifreeze, oils, paint thinner, degreasers, etc.

Beginning April 1st tenants who are vaccinated no longer have to wear a mask while in Laurel, Grasmere, or 55 Victory. This includes our administrative office. We urge those who have not been vaccinated to continue to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

The Village of Massena spring cleanup has been slated for Monday April 25th- May 7th Monday-Saturday 7-3pm.

❗️❗️ Vouchers will be mailed to the homeowner with an active residential refuse accounts. We will make everyone aware when vouchers have been mailed.

We will not be responsible for mail that has been lost, forwarded or misplaced.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

The Massena Housing Authority has an opening for a full-time Maintenance Supervisor.

Must live within 45 minutes of MHA and be a resident of St. Lawrence County. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Physical requirements commensurate with the requirements of the position.

Work includes but is not limited to:
• Supervision of maintenance workers (scheduling/assigning work, training and assisting in work, monitoring performance).
• Identify and Plan Upcoming Work (routine, nonroutine and emergency)
• Procurement (price comparisons, maintenance supplies, equipment, etc.)
• Budget (Plan expenditures, cost saving measures, monitor expenses).
• Communication (contact point for Architect/Engineer, vendors, ED, collaborate with Occupancy, etc.)
• Requires PC familiarity

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in building trades, electrical technology, heating and cooling technology or related field and one (1) year experience in building maintenance and repair work including environmental control repair and electrical work; OR Graduation from high school, possession of a GED or possession of an IEP diploma and three (3) years of experience as described in (A) above.

Interested parties should submit a St. Lawrence County Civil Service Application for Employment and a Resume by March 30, 2022, to 20 Robinson Rd, Massena, NY 13662. Salary is commensurate with experience. Position includes health, dental, vision and life insurance, participation with NYS Retirement System, vacation, paid sick leave and personal leave.

The MHA has Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Tests available for free distribution to our tenants who are 60 OR OLDER. Each tenant meeting the age requirements is allowed one box which must be picked up at the Administration Building. These tests were provided by the St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging.
