On Saturday May 30th LIPC joined with and many of the local and statewide organizations for the 3rd annual Rally for Transgendee Rights on the steps of Nassau county legislature.

Our Executive Director joined the speakers with a message solidarity and willingness to fight for our collective struggle.

"Knowing that all of us are on journeys, some of us have head starts, some of us have harder struggles and bigger hurdles to contend with, and we all need help on this journey of life. And I am here because all of us have the right to become who we truly are, and no one has the right to stop us or define us in our pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. " -Joe Sackman

As one collections supervisor said at a conference "People think much better in the dark,"

We Stand With Immigrant Communities!

Climate change is one of the main factors driving large-scale migration and displacement. The United States is the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases (GHGs), which are causing rising global temperatures, extreme weather, and rising sea levels.

And despite producing less CHG, people in the global south face the most extreme climate impacts.

Over 400,000 Venezuelans have lost their Temporary Protection Status (TPS) and are at risk of deportation.

Now, we await the Supreme Court’s decision on the Trump administration’s efforts to end TPS for over 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians.

This will impact 1.3 million people with TPS from 17 countries.

How can we support?

1. Call your Senators and demand they vote YES to H.R.1689 to keep TPS for Haitians.

2. Many undocumented immigrants, DACA
recipients, and TPS holders do not have a pathway to permanent legal status.

Demand that Congress pass legislation to create pathways.

Clean water isn’t a luxury, it’s a right. And right now, there are real dollars available to improve our homes and help make that right a reality for families here on the East End.

In partnership with Shinnecock Kelp Farmers we’re hosting a community town hall on Saturday, May 9th, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Stony Brook University’s Southampton Campus to offer more information about how you can access local funds to upgrade your septic systems, and improve your home and our waters.

Space is limited, and lunch will be provided. We’d love for you to join us.

We hope you’ll share this invitation to anyone who can be helped by this funding, and please register. Link in the bio
