The Delaware County Fire Chiefs, along with Delaware County Iowa Emergency Management have enacted a burn ban. This will remain in effect until substantial rain has improved conditions. The use of outdoor fireplaces, barbecue grills, properly supervised landfills, or the
burning of trash in incinerators or trash burners made of metal, concrete, masonry, or
heavy one-inch wire mesh, with no openings greater than one square inch is still
allowed. If you still think you need to burn, please consult with your local fire chiefs for a burn permit and safety instructions.

We have once again been upgraded in risk and are now at level 3 “Enhanced Risk”. If you have an outdoor job tomorrow, you should have your nearest shelter mapped out.
There are now 3 rounds of storms expected:
1) Tuesday from 2am-8am, although these are expected to have a more southerly impact.
2) Tuesday from 2pm-9pm. Areawide, and moving fast. These storms are dependent on cloud clearing from the first round of storms.
3) Now adding – Wednesday from 4am-10am, timing and location still very uncertain.

The risks with these storms are hail (30-44% chance with a greater than 10% chance that it’s 2” or larger) Damaging winds over 60 mph, and Tornados (10-14% chance with a greater than 10% chance of those being EF2 or higher).

The Cedar Rapids weather radio is down with unknown timeframe for repair, so this would be a great time to sign up for Alert Iowa by texting DELAWAREIA to 67283 or going to

Wow, where do we even begin. It is such a beautiful day out there and soo many of you took the opportunity to enjoy it and came over to our breakfast. We would like to Thank everyone that came over to eat, brought baked goodies to donate to our bake sale or just plan helped out in any way. Its because of you that we had such a successful event. Thanks again and see you all next year.

We would like to Thank everyone that was able to come out today for our breakfast. We had such a great turn out. We also want to thank all the department members for all their hard work along with the spouses, children that were able to help and even the grandparents that babysat. With out all of you this great day would not be possible. We will see you all again next year.
