The Beast! Does it top my overall favorite coasters? Nope, but I do think it is a ton of fun. It's quirky, odd, and one-of-a-kind. In an industry where most corporate parks essentially copy-paste attractions, rides like the Beast stand out. Quirky stands out, and nothing out there is quite like the Beast. Careening through the woods with some fun lateral forces is lots of fun. Give me quirky and unique any day of the week. On that note though, it is pretty surprising to me how many Kings Island locals have not made the relatively short (3 hour drive) to Holiday World. I would be at Holiday World all of the time if I lived that close to it. Voyage at Holiday World also careens through the woods, but does it so thrillingly and intensely. When I hear someone say that the Beast is number one and I hear the reasons they feel that way, most of those reasons describe Voyage is such a bonkers experience to the absolute max.

Here’s a look at THE BEAST (Pre-Tunnel) before its April, 1979 grand opening.

The Beast featured 3 underground tunnels in its first season; tunnels #2 and #3 have since been c***ected to form one long tunnel. The helix tunnel had not yet been constructed in this video. It was eventually added after the 1979 operating season.

It was cold, rainy and windy, but, oh, what a wonderful day when The Beast was unchained.
