GiveWhereYouLive campaign begins

It’s getting time for the annual GiveWhereYouLive fundraising event for Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank that starts in August.
Longtime Food Bank volunteer Ozzie Ohl
Is contacting businesses and individuals to create the double your donation challenge match.
Last year two anonymous sponsors and several local businesses
pledged $11,475.00 and we are hoping this year to reach closer to $20,000 in challenge match dollars.
Their support in 2025 helped us bring in just over $30,000 between their funds and the matching donations.

The heart and soul of Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank? Its 110 volunteers who give their time and talents to help North Iowans in need of food.
Two people are honored this month for giving 1,000 hours or more to the Food Bank through their years of service.
Please thank and congratulate Mike Fossey and the family and friends of the late Darcy Ostercamp.
Honored for 100 hours of volunteer service are Lana Brockney, AJ Buss, Tommy Frey, Janice Hochstein, Kevin Hochstein, Karolyn Hornung, Deb Lassise, Jim Miller, Lorre Myhre, and Bruce Smith.

Thrivent Choice offers Food Bank program

Thrivent Choice members have the opportunity to participate in a program to help purchase an entire semi load of food and essential non food items for Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.

If 20 Thrivent Choice members commit $100 to Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank the Food Bank can purchase a semi load from the Food Bank of Iowa.

Each $100 will buy 600 pounds of food to help feed our North Iowa neighbors. Twenty Thrivent Choice members each contributing $100 helps Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank buy 12,000 pounds of food and essential non food products.

Grab and Give event gives big boost to Hawkeye Harvest

It was a shopping cart race of chaos and compassion at Hy-Vee West in Mason City on Thursday when 19 businesses participated in the annual Grab and Give event. The annual fundraiser for the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank is sponsored by Cerro Gordo Farm Bureau.
Teams of three had five minutes to grab groceries with the goal to come the closest to $250 in items. No calculators or even pen and pencil were allowed. There was also an award for the “Greatest Grabber” beyond the $250 amount.
This year's “Greatest Grabber” was Henkel Construction/Accord with the largest amount spent by a team since the event began.
The 19 teams spent $6,819.18 on the groceries they selected which provided the Food Bank with 3,137 pounds of good.
Following are the winning teams, according to Brittney Sanchez, Outreach Coordinator for the Cerro Gordo and Hancock counties Farm Bureau offices.
Overall Winner (closest to $250 over/under)
1st Place - Coloff Media, total of $249.68
2nd Place - Farmers State Bank, total of $250.81
3rd Place - Clear Lake Bank and Trust, total of $251.67
Greatest Grabber was Henkel Construction/Accord with $1,463.86 worth of groceries items donated.
Participants were: Bank Iowa, Farm Credit Services of America (Mason City office), Heartland Asphalt, Cargill, Cartersville Elevator, CENT Credit Union, Central Springs FFA Chapter, Clear Lake Bank and Trust. First Citizens Bank, Golden Grain, Hearing Associates, Hertz Farm Management, Cerro Gordo County ISU- Extension Office, Nutri-Quest, Wyffels Hybrids- Jordan Davison.
Thank you to all the businesses, their teams, Hy-Vee West, and Food Bank volunteers for a successful fundraiser.
