A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our Spring Adopt-A-Highway cleanup! 💚 We picked up trash, cleaned up our community, and maybe discovered where every lost fast-food wrapper in the county ends up.

Your time, hard work, and dedication make a real difference. We appreciate each and every volunteer who helped make our roads a little cleaner and our community a little brighter! 🚮✨

Today, Daniel “Bookman” Gross came into the Mascoutah Police Department to introduce himself. Daniel is a college student from Estonia that is doing a summer internship with Southwestern Advantage and will be going door to door selling educational resources as he works his way through college.

Daniel came into City Hall today to obtain his Solicitor’s Permit and will be in Mascoutah the next few weeks.

The Mascoutah Police Department makes no claims nor endorsements regarding the product being sold.

If you see a bunch of people in orange vests along Illinois Route 4 on Saturday, June 6th, don't worry—contrary to rumors, none of us were sentenced to pick up trash. We're just First Responders with a passion for community service (and a strong dislike for litter). 😎🗑️
Members of the Mascoutah Fire, Police, and EMS are teaming up for our Adopt-A-Highway Spring Clean Up!
We pick up trash, you enjoy the view!👍

Thank you for driving responsibly (and littering responsibly...in a trash can). 😉

As you spend time with family and friends today, we ask that you take a moment to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting the freedoms we enjoy today will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Mascoutah Police Department, we honor and remember our fallen heroes this Memorial Day.

🚲🛴Rolling into summer? Let's talk micromobility laws in Illinois 🛴🚲

Those e-bikes and e-scooters are zipping all over town- and we love seeing everyone enjoy the ride...BUT, before you channel your inner action movie stunt rider, let's talk about keeping the ride legal and safe.

ELECTRIC BICYCLES
✅E-bikes up to 20 MPH have no age restrictions.
⚠️E-bikes 20-28 MPH must be 16+ years old
🚫No riding on sidewalks with any e-bike

GAS BICYCLES
✅Max 20 MPH
⚠️Must by 16+ years old
🚫No riding on sidewalks

ELECTRIC SCOOTERS
✅Max 10 MPH
⚠️Must be 18+
🚫No sidewalks, roads must have a speed limit of 35 MPH or less

A few other things that will earn you a chat with us:
🚫Riding under the influence
🚫Playing real life Mario Kart and not obeying local traffic laws
🚫No lights at night. Seriously, we want to see you. You want people to see you. White in front, red in back.

Helmets aren't required by law, but they are highly recommended. Your head will thank you.

We want you to have fun, get where you are going, and keep yourself intact by following the proper safety and legal guidelines. Share the road, ride smart, and keep the good times rolling!

*Knock knock...*
"Who's there?"
"Mr./Ms. company salesperson."
"Before we continue, may I see your City of Mascoutah Solicitor's Permit?"
"I don't have one"
"Oh, you don't? This conversation's over." *closes door*
*Picks up phone and dials 618-825-2051 to report soliciting without a permit.*

That's right. To solicit door to door in the City of Mascoutah, City ordinance states that every company or solicitor must contact City Hall in order to obtain the proper permit and credentials. Your safety is our priority. If something seems suspicious or a solicitor is not following the rules or refuses to leave, trust your instincts and contact us.
