The Blount County Mayor's Office is located on the third floor on the breezeway of the Blount County Courthouse. Ed Mitchell serves as the Chief Fiscal Officer for the County, in addition to representing the County at many functions and presentations. Other duties include Budget Committee Chairman, making nominations and appointments of persons to certain committees, and making recommendations to

the Blount County Commission. The County Mayor's Office is in place to serve the citizens of Blount County. If you are in need of assistance, this office can put you in touch with the right people. It is the duty of this office to provide leadership to you in all issues regarding our County.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the Courthouse steps on the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks to stand together in remembrance of this solemn occasion. The courthouse bell tolled at 8:46am, 9:03am, 9:37am and 10:03am in memory of the lives lost.

It’s hard to believe it has been 25 years since this awful day. We all know exactly where we were on that day and what we were doing, and every American continues to be impacted by the events of that day.

We also remember that while that day was marked by grief and sorrow and loss, it was also a day of heroism and sacrifice and the defiance of evil.

It was appropriate that Psalm 23 was shared by President Bush on the night of September 11, 2001: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me."

Let us honor all lives lost on September 11th and after by always remembering them, by supporting our military, and by ensuring the freedoms we enjoy here in the United States of America are forever protected.

Blount County Register of Deeds Phyllis Crisp would like to get a warning out to everyone about a misleading letter currently circulating in our community. Multiple residents have reported receiving misleading letters from an organization not affiliated with this County offering to provide a copy of a recorded deed and property file for $98.00. A copy of your deed can be obtained by contacting the Register of Deeds directly - by phone or in person - and copies are $0.50 per page for regular copies and $1.00 per page for certified copies.

If you have further questions about deeds or other recorded documents, you can contact the Register of Deeds at (865) 273-5880 or visit in person, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, at the Blount County Courthouse.

If you have concerns about property fraud, you can sign up for a land alert service - https://www.mylandalert.com/ - it's free and will notify you any time your name is involved in a property transfer.

BLOUNT COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CLOSED FOR THREE DAYS

MARYVILLE, Tenn - The Blount County Health Department will be closed Wednesday, September 9th, through Friday, September 11th. The health department will be back to normal operating hours on Monday. September 14th.

For anyone seeking services from the health department, including vital records, please feel free to contact any of the area local health departments. The health departments closest to Blount County include Loudon County Health Department, Monroe County Health Department, and Sevier County Health Department.

Re: VENDOR DAY IS SET FOR SEPTEMBER 16, 2026
BLOUNT COUNTY, TN

The Blount County Purchasing Department is hosting its annual Vendor Day on Wednesday, September 16, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Blount County Public Library in the Dorothy Herron Room. The invitation is open to all vendors whether or not you are already registered to do business with Blount County.

Purchasing teams on site will include Blount County, Knoxville's Community Development Corporation, Knoxville Utilities Board, City of Knoxville - Government, Knox County Government, Blount Partnership, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and Loudon County.

“I am excited that our Blount County Purchasing team organizes this event every year,” says Mayor Jared Anderson. “Vendor Day is a great opportunity to network with various businesses and organizations in our area and to make connections with several purchasing teams at one time.”

Purchasing Director Kari Barrett adds, “Blount County is a great place to do business, and we look forward to meeting our community partners and equipping them with the resources to do business with us. By hosting this event we aim to develop relationships and share information to build partnerships that will provide the best goods and services to our citizens.”

Vendor Day gives everyone an opportunity to learn more about doing business with area governments within and surrounding Blount County. Our Blount County Department leaders and other representatives will be able to answer any questions, register vendors in the IonWave bidding system, and provide insight on future opportunities in our area.

America’s 250 events hosted by the Blount County 250 Committee will take place in Downtown Maryville on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟮, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟴 𝗮.𝗺. 𝘁𝗼 𝟭:𝟯𝟬 𝗽.𝗺.

The parade will travel along Broadway Avenue, beginning at 11 a.m. and concluding around noon.
𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 | 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The Maryville Farmers Market will be held at the Blount County Courthouse parking lot for this day only to accommodate one of the anchor events at the amphitheater. Time: 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿
A celebration of our nation's history and veterans will be held at the amphitheater with a special concert by the Jeff Jopling Band. Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m.

𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀
All feeder streets connecting to Broadway Avenue will be closed from 10:30 a.m. until shortly after the parade concludes.
This includes:
- Cates Street
- Gamble Avenue
- North Cusick Street
- North Court Street
- College Street
- Patton Street
- New Street
- East Church Avenue
Parade staging will begin at 8 a.m. on Sevierville Road and Norwood Street. Through traffic motorists should consider alternate routes and use caution when traveling downtown.
Please note that Court Circle will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate event vendors.

Healthcare Discovery Day at Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital

So much energy and excitement of the hospital staff was evident today as they welcomed local high school students from Blount County and surrounding areas. Students spent the day exploring a wide variety of career opportunities in health care, clinical and non-clinical, connecting with education institutions, and real hands-on learning.

Thank you Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital and the other organizations involved to ensure such an important program happen for our students!

After a whirlwind of a couple days, I am finishing up my second official day as Blount County Mayor. I just want to take a moment and extend my appreciation for all of the support and kind words of encouragement.

I am humbled at this opportunity and will serve Blount County to the best of my abilities. I look forward to serving our citizens every day as Mayor, working with our Elected Officials, Commissioners, Department Heads, and all of the Blount County employees.

As I stated during our Oath of Office Ceremony yesterday, whether you are newly elected or reelected, we are inheriting in 2026 a Blount County legacy that stretches back a very long time. And we have a whole county full of people counting on us. Let us do our part, make wise decisions, and leave to those who come after us a Blount County worthy of the legacy that was left to us.
