The Blount County Education Foundation has awarded a record-breaking $90,000 in Mini Grants to Blount County Schools for the 2025–2026 academic year. This marks the largest amount ever distributed, a milestone made possible by growing community support and the addition of BCEF’s newest fundraiser, the Bow Tie Gala.

“We are grateful to BCEF for their support as we share a vision for the future of Blount County Schools,” said BCS Director Justin Ridge. “These mini-grants improve our student experience with innovative programs, and we’re excited to continue our collaboration as the year unfolds.”

The Mini Grant program funds projects that enhance students’ educational experiences, providing resources that go beyond the traditional classroom budget. This year’s grants will support initiatives in STEM, literacy, the arts, and physical education.

“This investment represents our community’s commitment to education and the future of Blount County,” said Renee Poole, Executive Director of BCEF. “The program truly breathes life into educator ideas, turning innovative visions into realities for the benefit of students.”

This year’s highest awardees are Mary Blount Elementary with almost $10,000 and Montvale Elementary over $12,000 as both schools can credit multiple BCEF events like the aforementioned Trot for Education and Bow Tie Gala for those gifts.

“This generous support will directly enhance educational opportunities, provide extra resources, and strengthen RTI programs that benefit our students,” said MVES Principal Nichole McCord. “We extend our sincere appreciation to BCEF for their continued investment in the success of our schools in Blount County. I can’t wait for my students to pay it forward by working hard to get us a great team for the Trot for Education!”

“We are so grateful for the generous support of the Blount County Education Foundation. Their grant funding will directly impact student learning across all areas of Mary Blount, and we deeply appreciate their investment in our students’ success,” said MBES Principal Ryan Ferrell. “With their continued support, it becomes easier to achieve our mission of maximizing the academic potential of all our students.”
