Warm, summer months are peak times for drownings in pools and open water. Even good swimmers can drown – all it takes is a cramp, an injury, or accidentally inhaling enough water.

Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices, like a life jacket or rings, are recommended while swimming, especially in open bodies of water like lakes and rivers.

Of the drownings investigated and reported in 2024 by the and data collected from Child Fatality Review Panels, NONE of the children who drowned were wearing a personal floatation device.

Pro-Tip: Don’t leave plastic water bottles in a scorching trunk for months — swap them out regularly for fresh ones, or grab a few shelf-stable water pouches instead. ⤵️
