Story Time is a great place for children and caregivers to have fun, listen to cute stories, and create adorable crafts. Here are some photos of a past story time where we read the book "Hair Love ABC" to go with that day's theme of "H is for Hair". Afterwards we decorated heads and created our own hairstyles. This week we do not have story time on Monday; but do have story time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10AM at Health and Human Services (5730 Packard Ave). We also have our First 5 Friday event on water safety on Friday, 6/5, at 10AM. To register for story time, click on the following link: https://linktr.ee/yubacountylibrary First 5 Friday does not require registration, families can just drop in!

On May 11th, we had a change of pace in story time, with our special guest: Freebirds' pitcher Riley Egloff! We started off story time with a scavenger hunt game to find different baseball items around the room. Riley then took the field and read the books At Bat and Summer is Here. Afterwards kids made their own Freebirds baseball hat. If you missed this special story time, the Freebirds Baseball team will return for story time on June 9th and for Touch-A-Truck on June 12th!

On May 4th we held a Star Wars Party! Those who registered could make a balloon lightsaber, Grogru, a Chewbacca paper bag puppet, a death star, or a Yoda hat. Afterwards we played a Star Wars Memory Match, Star Wars Bingo, and had a scavenger hunt. We also had some special out of this world guests, who children get take a photo with. If you missed this event join us next month when we have llamas visit (6/8) and have all kind of vehicles take over the parking lot with Touch-A-Truck (6/12)!

Food for Fines is back on Monday (June 1st)! What is Food for Fines? For the month of June, you can pay off overdue library fines with unopened, unexpired, nonperishable food (there must be an expiration date clearly marked on the item, and it has to have an expiration date of a minimum of six months).
For each item donated, $1 will be waived in overdue fines (We will wave up to a maximum $50 per library account). Food donations can only go toward overdue fines and do not cover the cost of replacement library cards or lost and damaged materials.

If you don’t owe any fines but would still like to donate, it will be greatly appreciated! All donations will be turned over to the Yuba County Health & Human Services, who will work with local non-profit agencies that assist families and individuals in need. For more information, please call: (530) 749 7380.
