In November we continued our story time theme, the Alphabet, with the letter "O" and the book "Little Owl's Fog" by Divya Srinivasan. After reading the story, children made little owls. This week we do not have story time tomorrow (9/7) as we will be closed for Labor Day, but do have it Wednesday (9/9) at 10AM. Story time is free, at the Government Center, and does not require registration!

Show off your creativity in the Friendship Park Art Contest and help inspire a park that’s clean, welcoming, and fun for everyone. The Yuba County Library's Imaginer Studios is back! Join us as we design rollercoasters and learn about the science behind what makes them work. Library staff will provide the materials, but families are welcome to bring anything they would like to add. This program is for children ages 6 and older. This September, the Yuba County Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month and discover how a library card can hit all the right notes, no matter what your tastes are. Also, for the month of September, we are having a library card sign-up contest for children ages 0-17. Those who sign up for their first library card between September 1st to 30th will be entered in to win a fun prize bag!

Guidelines:
📖 This contest is only for children ages 0-17.

📖Only those who sign up for their first library card are eligible to be entered in, not those getting a replacement card.

📖Children and their parent must both be present to sign up and receive a library card. Parents must bring in their valid photo ID (CA ID, CA driver's license, green card, or military ID) and proof of their current mailing address (something that has been through the mail or a digital bill/invoice from the last 30 days) in order to make a card for their child.

📖You can register for a card online, but the card must be picked up or made into an ECARD to count.

Stomp on over to the Yuba County Government Center Wednesday (9/2) for this Jurassic Scavenger Hunt. Hidden in the building will be 10 dinosaurs. Those who can find them all will get a prize! Event is for kids 3+, no registration necessary, September 2nd from 10AM-4:30PM.

Thanksgiving in August? Just a photo from our November story time when we took a break from the alphabet to celebrate the holiday by reading "Thanks for Thanksgiving" by Julie Markes. After listening to the story children made turkey headbands! This week we only have story time on Monday (8/31); but we will be offering a Dinosaur Scavenger Hunt for kids ages 3+ on Wednesday (9/2) from 10AM-4:30PM

A few weeks ago, we had a fun farming themed story time with Todd Quist, Assistant Agricultural Commissioner. Mr. Todd read “10 Little Tractors” and “Farmers”; talked the different farms we have in Yuba County; and shared about tractors, bees, and farm animals. Afterwards he showed us some insects and bug specimens the Agricultural Department has, allowing children to get an up-close view on creepy crawlies. Before story time ended children made a cute little tractor!
