It was an amazing day at Celebrate Your Child Literacy Day at the Pine River Nature Center!

More than 350 children and families joined us for a day filled with nature-inspired literacy fun, including a StoryWalk, the Bookmobile, a playdough letter station, the music garden, nature alphabet art, a hike to the tree house for stories and many other hands-on activities designed to spark a love of reading and the outdoors.

A huge thank you to our 15 community partners who provided engaging activities throughout the day, Region 6 MiFamily Engagement Center, St. Clair County RESA staff, Pine River Nature Center, our hard working volunteers, and the representatives from MiLEAP at the State of Michigan who came out to visit and shared literacy kits with families. And of course, Bluey was the hit of the day! đź’™

Thank you to everyone who helped make this sunny celebration of literacy, learning, and nature such a huge success!

It’s a “What If…” kind of day! 📚✨

What if we had funding to create another Talking is Teaching Reading Space in our community?

Where should it go? Think about places where families spend time waiting or gathering. What local business, agency, or community space could benefit from a cozy reading corner and books for families to enjoy together?

Share your ideas in the comments—we’d love to hear them!

Child care costs shouldn't force parents out of work.

Michigan’s MI Tri-Share splits licensed child care costs three ways: employer, employee and the state.

And now, with MI Care-Share, employers can offer a 33 percent benefit to any employee. Eligible families receive another 33 percent covered by the state.
