🚨 SCAM ALERT: "Probation Officer" Calls 🚨

The Marysville Police Division is warning residents about a sophisticated phone scam targeting families of individuals recently involved in the court system.

🛑 How it Works:
-The Pitch: A scammer calls claiming to be a Probation Officer or other court official, offering a fake "diversion program" to get a loved one out of jail.

-The Catch: They demand an immediate bond payment. The scammer may text barcodes to the victim's phone to scan for payment or some other nonconventional payment option.

🛡️ What You Need to Know:
-The courts and law enforcement will NEVER text you barcodes or demand immediate payment over the phone.

-Scammers use public records to target families during stressful times and create a false sense of urgency.

📞 What to Do:
-Hang up and verify: Call the Marysville Police Division or the court directly using an official, trusted number—not the number that called you.

-Never rush into payment: Do not buy gift cards, wire money, or scan texted barcodes.

If you have received a similar call, please contact the Marysville Police Division at 937-645-7300. Please share this to help protect our community!
