Yesterday, we recognized 988 Day — but knowing how to respond when someone may be thinking about su***de matters every day.

If you are worried about someone, it is okay to ask directly: “Are you thinking about su***de?” Asking the question does not put the idea in someone’s head. It can open the door to an honest conversation and help someone feel less alone.

Listen without judgment, take their answer seriously, stay with them, and help them connect to support. Call or text 988 anytime for immediate crisis support. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

We love seeing the impact of ROX — especially because we’re seeing it right here in Union County! 💗

MHRBUC is proud to invest in bringing ROX to girls in Fairbanks, Marysville, and North Union schools, helping them build confidence, leadership skills, healthy relationships, and the skills to navigate stress and challenging situations.

And the outcomes from our local girls make us even more excited about this investment: 82% of Union County participants said they feel happier with the person they are, and 92% said their ROX leader cares about them.

Prevention and early intervention are important pieces of a strong behavioral health system. Programs like ROX give young people skills, confidence, and supportive connections early — before challenges become crises.

We’re thrilled to partner with our local schools to make opportunities like this available to young people across Union County. 💗

At ROX, everything we do is data-driven, and we’re proud to say that after participating in ROX…

-97% of ROX girls say they learned critical life skills
-86% of ROX girls have higher levels of self-esteem and self-confidence
-9 in 10 ROX girls feel safer and more confident that they can protect themselves
-78% of ROX girls have increased connection to school

We don't just say the ROX Program for Girls works, our data proves it.

When a child does not want to go to school, look beneath the behavior. School avoidance may be connected to anxiety, friendship changes, academic stress, sensory or safety concerns, or another difficulty they are not sure how to explain.

Stay curious, listen without judgment, and involve behavioral health professionals early. Working together can help identify what is getting in the way and what support may make returning feel more manageable.

Some nervousness, tiredness, or extra reassurance-seeking can be part of adjusting to a new school year. Pay closer attention when changes last, become more intense, or interfere with school, friendships, sleep, or daily routines.

You know your child best. If something feels different, start a conversation and involve behavioral health professionals early. You do not have to know exactly what kind of help is needed before reaching out.

Families and school staff can submit a referral for additional support here: https://mosaicu.org 💚

There is no single “right” way to recover. Recovery is deeply personal. For some people, it includes treatment or medication. For others, it may also include peer support, family, faith, safe housing, employment, or mutual-aid communities. Every step toward health, purpose, and connection matters.
