Yuba County Historic Resources Commission The Yuba County Historic Resources Commission was established by the Board of Supervisors in 2015 to help uncover and preserve the region's rich history.

It shall be the purpose of the Historic Resources Commission to advise the Board of Supervisors on historic matters within the County of Yuba. The Historic Resources Commission shall endeavor to discover and identify persons, events, and places of historical importance within the County; to make recommendations relating to the preservation of historic sites and structures; to coordinate with histo

ric groups and museums within the County to encourage their development; and to cooperate with and obtain assistance from related agencies.

The Yuba County Historic Resources Commission is proud to have had its application to the 2026 Doors Open program accepted. The program is put on each year by the CA Preservation Foundation to draw attention to lesser-known historic sites in California. For this, our first year, two important historic sites in Yuba County will be featured: the Packard Library in Marysville and the Arboga Assembly Center in South Yuba County. Docents will be on hand at both locations. Come out and celebrate local history!

Why not here? Yuba County needs its own history museum. Historic libraries, including those in Petaluma (pictured here), San Luis Obispo and others, have evolved into modern-day museums and cultural centers while retaining their historic character.
