Expect the unexpected in Marysville.

Longhorns on Broadway is this Thursday, June 11, from 3–7 p.m. How often do you get to see Texas Longhorns, some with horn spans over 100 inches, parading down the brick streets of a historic downtown?

The parade will start at 2:45 p.m. in front of Marysville Public Library and end near the Pony Express Barn & Museum. Don't miss Casino, a gentle 5-year-old steer. Casino will be led on a rope outside the pen so children can sit on him for photos.

The western-themed event will feature roping dummies and lariats, a stagecoach display, free bottled water and samples of Texas Longhorn sliders. It's a Sweet Treat Day Bakery food truck will also be there with delicious options.

Cowboy poet Ron Wilson will give presentations at 5 and 6 p.m., and fiddler Derrick Doty will provide live music throughout the afternoon.

What was your favorite part of Big Blue River Days this past weekend?

For us, it's the volunteers. It takes months of planning. Early mornings, long days and late nights. Dozens of people taking their love for their town and putting it into action. Not for any recognition – just because Marysville matters to them. "I love where I live" looks good on a T-shirt, but it's even better when people wear the shirt with pride.

Thank you to ALL of the many volunteers who made Big Blue River Days a fun, memorable event!

Think Big Blue River Days is just cars?

Think again.

Saturday's lineup includes a sauce contest where the public picks the winner, a kids zone, food trucks, live music, pickleball, a historic walking tour, Poker Run throughout downtown and plenty of reasons to spend the day in Marysville.

You can sample sauces, listen to a band, let the kids burn off some energy, learn a little local history and still make it back in time to see the cars.

That's what makes Big Blue River Days fun β€” there's something different around every corner.

Tag a friend who should join you on Friday night for a FREE concert at Big Blue River Days!

Rock & roll in cowboy hats and boots. This is how fans describe the sound and style of Steven Bankey & The Flatland Band. They'll be taking center stage this Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Finding each other in Kansas City, Steven Bankey, Micah Bourquin, Taylor Mead, and Jason β€œJetpack” Kucerik set off in their big blue van through the country and across the states to play for audiences big and small. With their full line-up of originals (and covers that feel like originals) they have become a fan favorite at festivals, county fairs, and honky-tonks far and wide.

Think you've got game? Here's a chance to see how you stack up.

The Big Blue River Days Pickleball Tournament is bringing some serious talent to Marysville, including the team of Tommy McNish and Zach Burger.

Zach was introduced to pickleball in 2022 and quickly fell in love with the sport. Since then, he's competed across northeast Kansas, southeast Nebraska and northwest Missouri while helping grow pickleball in rural communities. He and Tommy met through tournament play, became friends and now regularly compete together.

The tournament helps support the Marysville tennis program and promises a full weekend of competition, camaraderie and plenty of great pickleball.

Whether you're entering a team, cheering from the sidelines or just curious what all the pickleball buzz is about, stop by and catch some of the action. You might even pick up a few tips from some of the best players around.

Big Blue River Days is Friday and Saturday in downtown Marysville, with classic cars, barbecue, live music, food trucks, kids activities and more happening throughout the weekend.
