Shaun Bailey for Union County Commissioner

Shaun Bailey for Union County Commissioner Father. Veteran. Farmer. Leadership rooted in service. I’m running for County Commissioner for three simple reasons: I’m a father. I’m a veteran. I’m a farmer.

As a father,

As someone who was raised here, I care deeply about the kind of community we are leaving to our own children. County government makes important decisions that affect taxes, schools, roads, safety, and growth. I firmly believe that Union County must be a place where families can afford to live, raise their kids, and build a future. And that requires Property Tax Relief, Responsible Gr

owth, and Leadership that thinks long-term. As a veteran,

I believe in service before self, clear leadership, and accountability. In my twenty-two-year career of leading large formations of soldiers through deployments across the globe, I know the impact that strong and caring leadership can have on an organization. The focus of effective County governance should be no different: disciplined, transparent, and focused on results. That is the experience and mindset I will bring with me to the commissioner’s office. As a farmer,

As a fourth-generation Union County farmer, I understand the impact that practical problem-solving, hard work, stewardship and helping our neighbors can all have when we tackle the toughest challenges of each and every day. More than anyone, farmers understand that future generations will live with the consequences of the decisions we make today. That perspective matters greatly as Union County grows. I will work to make sure development strengthens our county in the long and short run. I’m running to be a servant-leader — to protect taxpayers, guide responsible growth, and keep Union County strong for the next generation. That’s why I’m running.

I asked an AI to generate an image of what unmanaged growth looks like. Even without a Data Center next to my house, this is what it came back with — a farm boxed in by subdivisions on one side, warehouses on the other, and data centers in the background.

It's not a real photo. But it could be. And that's the point.
Growth is coming to Union County whether we're ready or not. The question is whether we manage it with a plan or wake up one morning and wonder what happened to the place we grew up in. It will take hard work, experienced leadership, and collaboration to guide growth in Union County.

Vote Bailey May 5th.

Spent yesterday knocking on doors, then headed to the Washington Township Trustees meeting — my twelfth this year. Before the meeting even started, residents spoke up against data center development and in support of the Trustees' work to restrict it through zoning. People are paying attention, and they want their voices heard.
A few other items from the meeting worth sharing if you live in Washington Township: cleanup day is May 30th, a tree will be planted as part of the America 250 celebration, and the Trustees are working with Emergency Management to explore adding a tornado warning siren.

Three concerns at almost every door-property taxes keep going up, development is changing the rural character of the county, and people want clarity on how development decisions are made. They are connected. Here’s how.
