Train for the worst, so you can overcome anything.

Take a look inside our local SERE training: testing physical limits through combatives, water survival and evasion. Why do we do this? Because true preparedness means equipping our personnel with the grit and the skills to survive any environment, outlast any adversary and Return with Honor.

It’s not just training. It’s a promise to bring our people home.

We live here, we work here, and we share the same roads.

At the Tri-County Military Forum, 1 SOW Deputy Commander Col. Clayton Schuety joined U.S. Rep. Jimmy Patronis to tackle shared community challenges, including Highway 98 traffic and regional housing shortages, that impact both our neighbors and our special operations readiness.

"If we can partner for progress against a shared problem, we can truly see the needle move on some of these issues," Schuety said.

Ghosts as the hosts

The 1 SOW hosted NATO partners as part of exercise Emerald Warrior Spiral, bringing joint forces together to do what we do best: adapt, integrate, and execute. Across air, land and sea, service members train side by side to sharpen interoperability and strengthen mission readiness in complex, real-world scenarios.

Different uniforms. Different specialties. One unified mission.

“We truly believe if it wasn’t for his actions, that lady would have been seriously injured, possibly killed, by one of the dogs."

Senior Airman Marcus Wu was recognized by the Fort Walton Beach Police Department for helping save a woman from a dog attack in Fort Walton Beach last month.

Wu restrained the dog for roughly 15 minutes until first responders arrived, helping prevent further injuries and protect the victim. His actions reflect the kind of neighbor, teammate and servant leader Air Commandos strive to be both on and off duty.

That’s a wrap on National Police Week! 🚔

From our kick-off ceremony to a shooting competition and ruck march, it’s been a great week honoring our Security Forces Defenders. Whether they are at the gate, on patrol or deployed downrange, they are the shield that protects our community and our mission.

Thank you to all who participated and to our Defenders who protect and serve every day!

No Landing Zone...No Problem

Recently, crews from the 1st SOW and 160th SOAR executed a Helicopter Air-to-Air Refueling exercise. This training is about more than just proficiency; it’s about maintaining our warrior ethos. Continuous preparation ensures our forces possess the lethality and agility required to fight and win decisively if called upon. We train as we fight…unapologetically ready.
