Our department wants to wish Morgan County EMS Paramedic Terry Presslor the best of luck as he moves on to a new chapter in his career.

For the past several years, Terry has been the C-Shift Paramedic on Medic 915 which runs out of our firehouse, and has become a big part of our crew.

Terry has a plethora of experience in public safety and has become a mentor and friend to many within our organization.

We appreciate everything he’s done for our department, our community, and the patients we’ve served together.

Best of luck!

🌧️🌊 Not All Flooding Looks the Same 🌊🌧️

Heavy rain can cause flooding in different ways depending on where you are. Understanding the difference can help you stay safe.

🌊 Creek & River Flooding:
• Water rises more slowly but can last longer
• Creeks, rivers, and streams may overflow their banks
• Roads and low-lying areas near waterways can quickly become dangerous

🏙️ Urban Flash Flooding:
• Happens very quickly during heavy rain
• Water builds up on streets, parking lots, and underpasses
• Storm drains can become overwhelmed, causing rapid street flooding

🚗 Remember: Never drive through flooded roads. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 12 inches can carry away a vehicle.

⚠️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Today the A-Shift crew, along with additional department members, took advantage of the nice weather this afternoon to spend time training on hose line advancement and pump operator procedures.

Even the basic skills require constant practice, and training like this helps ensure our crews are prepared when the call comes in.

FDIC (Fire Department Instructors Conference) is in Indianapolis this week! FDIC is the worlds largest fire/rescue conference and brings in over 30,000 public safety professionals across the world for a week of hands on training, lectures, and exhibits.

Over the next two days, several of our off-duty personnel will be assisting with a rural water supply class by providing a tanker and support. It’s a great opportunity to contribute while also sharpening our own skills alongside departments from across the country.

Because of our involvement in supporting the event locally, our entire department gets access passes—something that would normally cost thousands of dollars. We’re grateful for the opportunity and proud to represent our community while continuing to learn and improve.

Stay safe to everyone attending, and we’re looking forward to a strong couple of days of training and collaboration.
